Noted hagiographer Ann Ball presents a moving book for our modern times. In words and photos, she presents the lives of more than 50 modern saints, including the touching stories of Blessed Gianna, Miguel Pro and other Mexican martyrs, Pier Giorgio Frassati, and Dorothy Day.

Here we find stories of courage, faith, and holiness from men and women around the world. The saints include mystics and martyrs, students and spouses, doctors of medicine and doctors of the faith.

It's not hard to be Catholic when you have stories such as these to strengthen and inspire you.

Ann Ball has done it again by providing an exceptionally beautiful book loaded with information and photos. She provides the common ordinary believer with the opportunity to reach out for high goals by providing the reader with modern day examples of holiness. A+++ Ann!

Ann Ball chooses an excellent selection of modern Saints, Blesseds, and Venerables in this book. Many of the accounts are very inspirational, with the lives of several martyrs, and other holy people who undertook extreme penance for their sorrow of sins. Excellent choice for those looking for inspirational stories about ways to achieve holiness and perfect union of your soul and Jesus.

This book was recommended to me during Lenten season. I am deeply inspired that these fellow human beings gave their lives completely over to the Lord, and wanted only to do His will. Each of them were so purely selfless and found great joy by helping their fellow man, often times sacrificing their health or even their lives. These people were all modern day saints, many I had never heard of. The book is well written, truly fascinating and I highly recommend it.
