A good album, December 8, 2000
This review is from: Faces (Audio CD)
This is the 3rd John Berry album I have. The other 2 are 'John Berry' and 'Standing on the edge'. While I do like this album a lot, to me it is not as good as the other two that I have. But there are good songs on here, nonetheless. Especially the lovely romantic ballad 'Faithfully'. And 'Forty Again' is a poignant song about a father and sons love for one another.

My 1st John Berry album and I love it!, October 14, 1999

I live in Connecticut and most every one that I've mentioned this album to has never heard of John Berry. They don't know what they're missing! Although I wasn't a big country fan, I recently visited the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and heard John Berry, for the first time. WOW! That rich, full-bodied voice and a dynamite band really caught my attention. I immediately bought Faces, not having a clue as to what I was buying. Since then, I have listened to it nearly every day. I like the variety of music on the album and I think Faithfully is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Living on Love is a great, funky song that you just have to sing along to. Change My Mind will touch anyone that has faced the pain of breaking up. This album has hooked me on John Berry and anybody who buys this album will not be disappointed, whether they're a country fan or not.

This is a great album for those who listen to all of the words. Not many upbeat songs but excellent to the dicerning listener. As a fan of John Berry this album shows us what he is capable of vocally.

John Berry's voice is captivating--I am astounded at the clarity, power and emotion in his voice. "She's Taken a Shine" is a catchy tune (you'll find yourself humming or singing it) but the songs "Forty Again" and "He Doesn't Even Know Her" will certainly strike a familiar note with some people who have shared these experiences and feelings. Perhaps that is the most attractive aspect of John Berry's songs, right after that incredible voice!
