This is an absolute must-have for fans of early George Duke, especially the jazz-lovers. This is THE album where George really found his legs and his new musical self and direction. It is bursting with beautiful and tasty energy, particularly his electric piano work. Except for a bit of dated craziness on a minimoog with echoplex which sounds like early experimentation today, this record stands up to time beautifully and I consider it one of his best albums. This is timeless, essential George, for lovers of his unique playing, especially keyboardists like me. This one will always receive regular rotation, I still listen to it regularly even after 34 years.

THIS IS THE FIRST OF FIVE ALBUMS GEORGE DUKE RECORDED FOR THE MPS/BASF LABEL BACK IN THE 1970'S. THIS WAS RECORDED IN 1974, AND IT IS THE FIRST ALBUM WHERE GEORGE DUKE PICKS UP PLAYING SYNTHESIZER. THE ONLY OTHER MUSICIANS ARE JOHN HEARD ON BASS AND LEON NDUGU CHANCELLOR ON DRUMS & PERCUSSION. THIS IS A GREAT ALBUM FROM GEORGE'S MOST CREATIVE AND ORIGINAL PERIOD MUSICALLY (I GUESS PLAYING ALL THOSE YEARS WITH FRANK ZAPPA REALLY LET HIM OPEN HIMSELF UP TO NEW HORIZONS). THE OTHER FOUR MPS ALBUMS, "THE AURA WILL PREVAIL", "FEEL", "LIBERATED FANTASIES" AND "I LOVE THE BLUES (SHE HEARD ME CRY) ARE ALL EQUALLY GREAT AS WELL, I HAVE THREE OF THEM ON AN IMPORT COMPILATION CALLED "THREE ORIGINALS". BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST ONE AND IT DEFINTELY WORTH HAVING.

A great early George Duke album, nicely remastered...I have the original MPS lp pressing...this is great fusion with feel, no pretense..close your eyes and float away.........
