A bad book,
This review is from: Faces of the Visitors (Paperback)
In this book, which includes credibility ratings on alleged alien abductees, some of which the author gave high scores, Kevin Randle contradicts what he says here with his other book on alien abductions, The Abduction Enigma. From his blog and recent internet postings, I get the impression that he no longer supports the credibility of the witnesses. Essentially then all the things he gave high marks to in this book, can be discarded. For instance, on page 17 he rates the reliability of roswell alien witnesses Frank Kaufmann and Edwin Easily as 9-- the highest rating in the entire book! But Randle no longer believes Kaufmann, and as for Easley, he made a death bed "confession" to his family, not directly to any UFO researchers. Faces of the Visitors was published in 1997, while the Abduction Enigma was published around 2000. Nonetheless, the author has recently assumed a debunking stance on the issue of supposed alien abductions. It's all sleep disorders. My advice, therefore, is to skip this book and most everything else by Kevin Randle, because whatever he writes he will likely retract a few years down the road. Both of his Roswell Crash books have been shown to be wrong. Pretty much all of his witnesses have been shown to be liars, and so later Randle changed his story. Therefore, one must start to wonder if Mr. Randle is either doing this for the money, or else he's a poor investigator. Ignore this book. It's definitely not of one Mr. Randle's best books.

Not Lt Col Randle's best,

This review is from: Faces of the Visitors (Paperback)
This is a book about extraterrestrials people have encountered in past cases. The case is given a brief synopsis and a crude drawing of the extraterrestrial is made (usually by the witness). I was expecting a professional sketch artist drawing what the witness saw, so this was my first disappointment. The cases are rated, which is another problem as new information comes forward about the cases. The famous Pascagoula Mississippi abduction is only rated a 3, even though the witnesses were recorded without their knowledge and were talking about the incident which happened to them. The book itself looks like an amateur publisher released it, which also I did not like. Lt Col Randle has other books on these subjects which are much better written. As some have noted, he has changed his position on some cases. As for the subject of alien abduction, Lt Col Randle has a problem with hypnotic regression, which is prone to fantasy. While he does not rule out abductions altogether, he is skeptical of the number of people claiming them. Still, a fan of Lt Col Randle and his work will be disappointed in this book. (He gives the Hill case only a 6 on the reliability scale, which is one of the best cases in terms of physical evidence out there.)

This is a truly pathetic piece of work. It main selling point, its art, is among the worst aspects of the book.

The self-important egotism of UFOlogists,

This review is from: Faces of the Visitors (Paperback)
An interesting compilation of all alien physiologies ever reported by anyone, even if the authors rate the reliability at zero, I have to ask: What is the purpose of this book beyond entertainment? The authors make it clear they have learned NOTHING from Jacobs & Hopkins on how to distinguish implanted screen memories from reality. Despite thisw clear lack of discernment, they accurately represent UFOlogists by cavalierly labelling each report with a TOTALLY subjective, arbitrary and barely explained or defended "reliability" #, as if UFOlogists were even remotely qualified to determine reality for the rest of us. The reliability of UFOlogists is ZERO! There is no functional critical review here, no real analysis, no real comparision or contrasting of reports, and certainly no regressional analysis of correlation.Just the subjective pontifications of UFO wannabees. Scientifically worthless. Yes, there is a vast diversity of alien physiologies, until investigated by skilled researchers.
