Temianka - as good a writer as musician,
By Captain Classical (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Facing the Music: An Irreverent Close-Up of the Real Concert World. (Hardcover)
Henri Temianka was one of the last of the old-school grand musicians. Aside from the fact that he was a brilliant violinist, he shows his talent as an author in this informative and entertaining volume. He shares dozens of stories about his musical relationships with other famous and not so famous artists, composers and managers.
I learned a lot from this book which surprised me because I thought it would be just another series of embellished personal stories in the guise of a biography. The book was excellent and offered behind the scenes glimpses of the concert world and the zany things that can happen to a concert artist. |
