Great Lashes, pretty eyes!,
By Belit "Belit01" (San Pedro, Ca.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Max Factor Lash Perfection, Volume Couture Straight Brush Black 801, 0.24 - Ounce Packages (Pack of 3) (Health and Beauty)
I bought this in addition to my usual Max Factor "2000 Calorie" lash fix for everyday use. For me, this was a new-line I hadn't seen or used before.
I tried it out at work, where anything I do to improve or alter my "look" is immediately noted and commented on. It was an unsolcited hit! To make a point, I wear prescription-glasses to work (and I DO deal w/the public) and contacts for important social occasions. So wearing clear glasses to work with a mascara that does exactly what I hope for, which is to give me "foxy/alluring/pretty" eyes (depending on the commentator) makes this product worth every penny paid for it, on sale, with a coupon, or not. I've used the free-samples given w/purchase at the fine dept. stores, and they worked great. But when I shelled out $$$ for the regular-size product, the product lasted like the container was only half-full, or it simply failed to perform as the Sample did. I've been using Max Factor Mascara for over 10 years now, and I found it by wanting pretty-eyes w/glasses, really reading the labels and taking that chance. So take a chance and try this product, I've not had a bad tube yet.

Lash Perfection Without The Hype!,
This review is from: Max Factor Lash Perfection, Volume Couture Straight Brush Black 801, 0.24 - Ounce Packages (Pack of 3) (Health and Beauty)
If you are a volume mascara girl (and you girls know who you are!) this is THE mascara!
Max Factor (playing Cinderella to it's much bigger sister, Cover Girl)has been quietly puttering away in drug store-land providing the best mascara for any price anywhere. Save your hard earned money for things that matter, like custom blended foundation, Anne Fontaine blouses and over the knee boots. First came 2000 Calorie Mascara (#101 Straight Brush) Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara 101 Rich Black Straight Brush long, long ago.....maybe in 1990. A terrible name for a wonderful product that offered thick, black lashes that didn't clump, smear or flake. A few slow applications and your lashes were amazing and out-to-there. And, believable and flexible and lasting through anything. Sad movies, tickling jags, Chicago windstorms, an accidental poke in the eye, anything! You could apply your makeup in the morning and then just reapply a coat of mascara before going out at 8pm and you looked great! No Tammy Fae Baker spiders, I tell you......these were Audrey Hepburn flutterbyes! I should also mention that this mascara washes completely off with soap and water! You won't think you are staring at Courtney Love in the bathroom mirror if you are too lazy and/or cheap to use makeup remover and cotton balls to save your towels from ruin. Just soap and water and you are fresh faced and your towels remain unsullied. Then, a few years ago Max Factor introduced Lash Perfection Volume Couture Mascara, (#801 Rich Black, Straight Brush) Max Factor Lash Perfection, Volume Couture Straight Brush Black 801, 0.24 - Ounce Packages (Pack of 3) which promises "High Volume and Definition". Not sure what was different about the mascara formula, but the brush was totally refigured. Instead of bristles, this new brush is composed of row upon row of tiny pink plastic spikes. The packaging also differs from 2000 Calorie. With Volume Couture, the brush wand comes separate and to the side of the tube of mascara. When you remove the product from the blister pack you insert the pristine pink bristled wand into the tube of mascara and voila the mascara is ready to apply. At first you hold your breath as the amount of mascara gunk on the brush is truly scary. "Uh oh" you say. This is going to be messy and gunky and I am going to get a big glob of black on my nose. And my lashes are going to clump. But nothing of the sort happens. In fact, no wand wipe is required, the mascara goes on effortlessly in buildable layer upon layer. The mascara dries quickly and looks fantastic. Just like 2000 Calorie but just more so. Blacker and thicker and maybe just a bit more glossy. Just a few months ago, Max Factor introduced 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper #401 Extreme Blackout Max Factor Eye Max Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper Mascara, Extreme Blackout 401, 0.44-Ounce Package. This tube is really, really thick. As with Volume Couture, the wand and mascara tube come side by side in the blister pack. The Extreme brush, which has "Next Generation iFX brush technology" and "volumizing Micro-Channels" is thicker and larger than the Volume Couture brush and there are many more spikes. I should add that this time, the spikes are purple. Don't get used to the purple 'cause once you dip that baby into the fat tube of mascara all you're going to see is black mascara on the end of the wand. A whole lot of mascara. Eeeek, you might say! This is going to be messy. Fear not, application is smooth and easy. Again, I have no idea if the new mascara formula is in any way different from the earlier two Max Factor products. The applicator seems to make the difference. The product goes on faster, smoother, blacker. And your lashes are very thick and very long. All three mascaras are great. Max Factor seems to want to sell all three versions simultaneously. I wouldn't throw any of them "out of bed". The pack of three is a very, very good deal. I'd go for it.

The stores in my town have already gotton rid of their Max Factor products since they will no longer be available in the United States. I was delighted to find the mascara I have been wearing for years here on Amazon. Of course I ordered right away. Thanks, Amazon.
