Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

The "E" stands for Ergogenic, and the author (Amateur Athletic Union) manages to cover an impressive assortment of substances and techniques used to enhance athletic potential. He covers nutritional aids and drugs interestingly in Part I and emphasizes high-tech equipment in Part II. The final part covers the mental aspects of attaining high performance. The quality of information throughout the book is excellent, but there is too much medical emphasis for the average reader. (Over 90 galley pages list drugs banned by the U.S. Olympics Committee.) An outstanding reference with an extensive bibliography for the physiologist, physician, and researcher, but of limited appeal for others. Kenneth G. Tillman, Trenton State Coll., N.J.
