My neighbor talked me into buying an electric grass trimmer since my all-in-one gas trimmer went out. I was very pleased with the lightness of weight and very shocked by the power. I always thought that gas trimmers were the most powerful. The only thing that I'm not happy about is being tethered by the cord. Coming from a long time gas trimmer user, it's just something that I have to get use to, but I can live with it. It does not take away from the trimmer at all. I wish that there were plastic blade attachments that I could purchase (like you can for gas trimmers) instead of using string all of the time. The string runs out too fast (after a couple of mowings; around 2 to 3 week periods). I looked for those attachments (at Lowe's and Home Depot) and found some for older models, but none for this model. If anyone knows where I can find some, please let me know.

I owned a earlier model Grass Hog many years back and on my heavily bushed properties it was a true work horse when properly cared for. My dad borrowed my GH and left it out in the weather and it got all mucked up. I needed a weed trimmer - electric corded because gas trimmers are a stinky pain and batteries in cordless trimmers don't last long enough for my needs - So I again turned to a B&D Grass Hog - the refirubed GH700 look like a good deal so I bought one - the first day right out of the box it cut a heavily over grown yard like a champ. As suspected I would, I went through a whole spool of line - and the Hog didn't miss a beat. I reloaded with line on hand and finished up. I hosed off the yard muck and it looks like new. It has plenty of power and the head flips for curb edging QUICK!
My only cons are, it could use a tad thicker stock line and like many weed trimmers it has no hanging hook for EZ storage - but a piece of stiff steel wire and a hose clamp solves that problem with any weed trimmer. I've never had any line feed issues; I suspect those who have trouble with the double line feed must doing something wrong or pushing too hard expecting it to perform like a gas model(?)

Okay, I have read a lot of negative reviews regarding this trimmer and did so prior to making my purchase. These reviews hindered me from making this purchase for several months before I risked all of $35.00 to purchase it at Home Depot.

Guess what? The trimmer works the way Black and Decker advertised.

I have now been using this trimmer for over a year with no problems in my small but neatly groomed front and back yards. It has also made a trip out to the mother-in-laws house to attack the monstrous weeds out there that truly needed a chainsaw or industrial yard trimmer. As you can guess, it did not do as well out there, but sure did a nice job of trimming the regular grass.

The edging feature is pure genius and works really well. I am not a professional landscaper, but this trimmer/edger sure has made my yard look like it was maintained by one.

Bottom line....If you have a small to medium size property that doesn't have weeds with huge stalks, this is the trimmer for you. I truly love mine as much as a normal person can love a yard tool. :)

This is the biggest piece of crap I ever purchased! Within 15 mins. of using, the entire head assembly spun completely off. And guess what, no part available. DO NOT waste your money as I have! No help from seller what so ever either!

Don't waste your money on this junk. So far, nothing I've bought form B&D works. They make nothing but junks. this thing is clumsy and barely worked for a half hour. buy something else. The reason why I don't return it is because I don't want to waste my time with it. Avoid the headache! buy something else.

Paid $50 for mine. $24.95 is a great price but the product isn't worth the box it comes in. Clumsy, time consuming spool rewinding. Tried a couple of new after
market "quick and easy" heads that claimed to work on this model that weren't even close. After an hour of major modifications I got the second one on there and when the snow stops we'll see how it works. Save your money rent a goat.
