The Bosch 3107DVS random orbit sander features a powerful 3.3 amp motor with a ball-bearing design for fast, smooth finishing. The variable-speed motor delivers 4,500 to 13,000 orbits per minute. Other highlights include an adjustable front handle for close-quarter work, a lock-on switch, and a hook-and-loop system for quick paper changes. The unit can also be used as a buffer/polisher for swirl-free finishes.

Having been VERY disappointed with the performance and long-term quality of the Black & Decker, Porter Cable & Dewalt versions of this machine, I thought I'd try this reconditioned unit.
It is GREAT! Very quiet and smooth running with really exceptional dust collection, I am VERY impressed. It has no tendency to "spin-up" at all and the dust collection is nothing short of amazing. The only shortfall I can find is the need to remove the front handle to sand close to a vertical surface with the front of the machine.
At the price of a mediocre, inferior product, it is an irresistable bargain if you need one.
I certainly look at Bosch tools with a new found respect.

I recently lost my reconditioned 3107 in a fire and I'm going to buy another just like it. Does that say anything? Tons of power. Just completly different from using a discount store vibrator. A little heavy, definatly a 2-handed affair, but thats OK. There are sexier looking sanders but the "polisher" looking handle is adjustable and functional. Dust collection is unimpressive (never connected to a vac.) All-in-all one of my favorite tools.

This is a great sander, and doesn't seem to be plagued with the problems the new ones report. (main allen bolt coming loose and causing all manner of havoc) It doesn't look like much from the pix; it actually looks kind of cheap. But it isn't. It is comfortable to hold, and the secondary handle is adjustable in many different positions. The dust collection works well, but is 100% better with the vacuum hose adapter.

Once the trigger is locked on, it can be held from the top of the enclosure, like the cheaper ROS's.

The cord is a nice flexible rubber. Not the crappy ones that get all stiff when they get cold.

This has completely replaced my orbital 1/4 sheet Makita sander.

One thing to watch out for is that you keep the center of gravity over your workpiece, or you'll easily round over your edges. For sanding the edges of boards, stick to a sanding block.

For leveling glued-up panels, this beats the heck out of a belt sander. With a coarse grit paper and the high speed setting, it removes material as fast as a belt sander, and doesn't gouge your workpiece as much.

I really like this sander, but I do check the allen bolt about every couple times I change the paper.

I'd buy this again in a heartbeat.
