I had one of the older versions of this unit. It had terrible radio reception. The Bosch rep in my area told me that the new version was much better, so I bought it. It still gets terrible reception. I have a $10 clock radio that picks up every station I listen to just fine and the Bosch can't tune most of them in. I love the cage, it makes the unit easy to carry and hard to destroy. The sound quality is middle of the road. Fix the radio reception and I would give it four stars.

I have been very disappointed in the newer Bosch cordless tools, they are getting very cheap.

We purchased the Reconditioned Bosch Construction Radio. We plugged it in and it came on for about one minute then would not play a cd, AM or FM radio. We contacted the Bosch Factory direct, about their reconditioned merchandise and they requested we return this radio to them, (shipping prepaid for return). They shipped a BRAND NEW Bosch Construction Radio replacement immediately!! It works perfectly. I certainly can not recommend a "Reconditioned" radio, it seemed to be a waste of my time. But Bosch Factory Direct rectified the problem, no questions asked! The company is the BEST! But their "reconditioned" products don't seem worth it.

I purchased one of these from CPO Bosch , of whom I cannot say enough nice things about. They are great to deal with so please use them and often. As for the radio...I bought mine because my DeWalt had no remote or CD player and the stations in my area leave a lot to be desired. I was excited and pleased when I received my radio, for about 7 months, and then the CD player started to act up and eventually just quit working altogether. So I used it as a radio and a set of speakers for my MP3. Until just after a year, the display went out and never returned. To be honest, it is a GREAT idea. The remote is nice unless you are in bright sunlight, then it will not work due to the fact that the remote is an IR remote instead of a RF remote. The sun blocks the eye on the radio from "seeing" the remote. I went back to using my old DeWalt with a MP3 or a junk CD player that I paid $20 from Walmart and am not interested in getting another one of these. Some may have good luck, but buyer beware.

I gave this Factory-Reconditioned Bosch PB10-CDR-RT Power Box Advanced Job Site Radio with CD Player and Remote Control a 5 star rating because I have had it for over a year now & Love it! It has beat out the competitors!(Milwaukee, dewalt) I had both! Bosch hands down!


Pros:
-cage allows it to be chained down with ladders and job box or hung up.

-cd player plays CD-R/RW discs as well as your regular CDs, and it has a 40-second anti-skip protection feature built-in to eliminate CD skipping. The only 1 one the market that does! The sound is excellent for a job site or back yard event!

-cord wraps up 2 keep cable tidy when not in use.
-light weight.
-square shape lets you stack it on a two wheeler (unlike the DW & Mil).
-snap-down CD tray keeps discs from jamming if you tip it or crash into it with a skyjack.
-on-board 4-way GFCI power 12-volt outlet perfect for charging cell phones and two-way radios & cleans up cable clutter.
-12v output and mini-jack input lets me tie in an i-pod or other gear.
I invested in the I-pod case that installs on the side for endless hours of music!
-battery charger cabinet holds CD's & other items for safe transport!
-runs off battery for power tools or can charge them in 30mins.
CONS:
-Was not designed for really loud music. If you want booming lows and tight high-end, buy a Bose Wave Radio and hope you don't trash it.
-no line out jack for sending to a transmitter or other device.
-backlit display is not designed for viewing above horizontal. If you have the box setting on the ground, you must tilt it back or hang it to read the display.

***All in all a great investment for anyone needing some tunes anywhere with or without power!

I am a contractor for many years. I have purchased so many regular radios none of which could withstand the work conditions for too long. So I finally broke down and purchased a job site radio. Radio works great no problems. I was worried at first about purchasing re-conditioned but very happy. Radio is pretty good - out of all the similar style radios this one has best sound. Sound is good not great. Have Ipod attachment which works real well. Overall good product. I hope this one lasts for a long time, only time can tell. Happy so far!!! Denis

good price.i work in construction filth and radio works fine. i blow it off and try to take care of it.gfi's are a great bonus and my ipod plugs in. place the whole thing under the chopsaw stand and u have mission control.i'm not an idiot so i dont play cd's in a dirty environment.if you do the cd player will be junk in weeks.sounds good too.
charges battery slow but there is lots of room inside charger bay to stash your ipod,cellphone,crack,whatever. so far so good

I bought this unit based on the opinion of a friend of mine since he owned one. I was very displeased with the radio, I can only pick up a few stations. Sometimes only two stations. The sound is pretty good, not great, but good. The GFCI outlets quit working also. I pulled them out and low and behold they shorted out. After getting a price on the part I have decided to make a plate and install regular household GFCI outlets since they are way better than the cheap ones installed by Bosch. Also several of the cage screws have fallen out somewhere along the way ao I need to get some new ones. In a nut shell.....overpriced for what it is. I will not buy another one. Wish I had not purchased this one.

So far this bosch radio has done what it claims. I haven't had a problem yet. Happy with the product and recommend.

I bought mine from another on-line place for a bit more. But had an older version for three years. The old one works but has famously bad radio reception. Those fav. public radio stations I preferred, Forget it! Only a few top of the charts, boring oldies stations or a common c/w station. Or worst, Rush Limbaugh b/s. Now the new one tunes in much better almost as good as a typical car radio. Good sound but not very loud for knuckledragger-types with the tools blaring.

Pros: tough construction; multi use:
four gfi outlets
aux jack for playing any mp3, Ipod or any audio with a headphone
jack
New: remote, battery charger too of course
and this is a great price! And note: an outlet to charge cigerette/style chargers...i.e. cell phones and such.

Con: My Gfi outlets don't work anymore. Battery's charge very slowly and are hot in the box (maybe risky to battery life?) I'd buy this one at this all time low price for a third one just so I could leave it on another job w/o packing every night...but will it also have a problem as my last one?

Hubby bought this with a store credit he recieved-he likes to listen to music on the job (trim carpentry). one thing nobody mentioned is that this thing is also Waterproof. I wouldnt dunk it in a lake or anything, but when we left in out in the back of the truck overnight and it rained like crazy, it was no problem. We dried it off and set it in partial sun for the afternoon, just to be safe. Good as new! we routinely use this on camping trips, parties, and when we watch an outdoor movie, this is handy to use as a speaker. Its not the loudest radio weve ever owned, but it works fine for us, and less chance of blowing the speakers IMO. The extra GFCI's have come in handy more times than we can count, and although we dont own any other bosch tools at the moment, its a cool idea that its got a built in charger for those. Love the mp3/aux jack.
