Worth every penny.,
This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Bosch PS40-2-RT 10.8-Volt Impact Driver (Tools & Home Improvement)
This little driver has to be some of the best money I've ever spent. I own and/or use quite a few different power tools both at home and as a commercial/industrial wireman and I can't recall ever having been so tickled with a tool as I am with this Bosch. Mine arrived looking brand new in a soft case with a charger, spare battery, manual and two driver bits.
The first thing I did was grab some 3" deck screws and start sinking them into a railroad tie. This wee little driver never broke a sweat and didn't even need pilot holes to set the screws below flush - amazing power for such a tiny package. I also quickly found out that this thing will shatter cheapie driver bits so I bought some quality Apex bits to use with it. Mine's been with me on several projects around the house tucked nicely into my shorts pocket without dragging my drawers down like my 18v drill. Battery life is great and they charge up in 30 minutes or less. The LED's are great and with judicious use of the variable speed trigger the fact that it doesn't have a clutch is virtually a non issue for me. A really great benefit of an impact driver is you don't have to honk down on it to keep the bit in the screw head. I demonstrated this to my dad and brother by driving a #2 philips 2 1/2" deck screw into a 2x4, no pilot hole, with just my index finger and thumb holding the driver. They were impressed! I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone looking for serious pocket-sized power and understands that impacts by design aren't as fast as regular battery drills but pound for pound pack waaaay more power. Now that I've used this driver I'd be seriously unhappy without it and would gladly pay full price if I had to. Another winner for Bosch - five stars all the way.

I run a furniture repair business and purchased this driver as a back-up for my 18v full size Bosch Drill/Driver. The Bosch PS40-2 RT arrived in excellent, brand-new condition, with a slip of paper that said it was a Demo. It is a great driver that is small, light-weight, and very powerful. The 3 LED lights are a great asset when working inside a furniture frame or somewhere that the light is not quite bright enough. I now reach for this driver first, for it's power, size and ability to impact the screw down to the depth that I want. I am very pleased with this purchase.
12/08/09 UPDATE: My Bosch is still going strong. I have not had any issues with this drill and it is my primary choice for woodworking.

Good little driver for someone making furniture and for general light to medium duty. Very controllable and responsive. I had hoped it would happily drive 2.5" deck screws but that's a little much to ask of it. It'll do it but it resorts to impact mode very quickly which makes it very slow. I also use the 14v Dewalt Impact Drivers and they handle the deck screws with ease. However, since they're heavier and more powerful, the Dewalts are not nearly as controllable with the smaller screw sizes (#4-#6) commonly used in furniture building. I've even used the Bosch to put hinges on jewelry boxes using #2(!) brass coated steel square drive screws and it was a pleasure to use. Again, that kind of delicate work is very easy and safe (less prone to stripping out or twisting off) with the Bosch.
