Amazon.com Review

The Cuisinart Mini-Prep food processor stands 8 inches tall and just over 4 inches wide, but don't let the size fool you. The base houses a motor so powerful that you need to stabilize it with one hand while using the high setting to whip up a strawberry-banana smoothie in less than a minute. The clear plastic prep bowl locks into place with a simple twist, while the blades can be set sharp side up for chopping onions or grating Parmesan cheese, or turned blunt side up for making walnut pesto or whipping up chocolate frosting. The set includes a spatula and a cleaning brush for removing coffee grounds.

For best results, cut ingredients into small, even pieces--about 1/2 inch square or so works well. In general, use the sharp-edge approach for low speed and the blunt side of the blades for high speed. If you need to run the motor for longer than one minute, pause and begin again. The bowl, cover, and blade assembly can all be run through the dishwasher, but watch your fingers when disassembling the machine, as the blades are extremely sharp. --Irene Svete

Editor's note: This is a reconditioned small appliance. Reconditioned generally means that the appliance has been returned to the manufacturer, so it may contain cosmetic blemishes. This item has a 90-day warranty.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product!!!, October 9, 2001

This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Cuisinart DLC-1FR 21-Ounce Mini-Prep Food Processor, White (Kitchen)
The Factory Reconditioned Cuisinart DLC-1FR 21-Ounce Mini-Prep Food Processor waa great buy for us. Easy to use, easy to clean, small enough to leave out on the counter without getting in the way. We had no problem with out unit cosmetically. It looked brand new. When we first used it for a job that took more than 30 seconds to chop/blend, we could smell a very slight odor as the motor got warm, but with the enclosed bowl none of that affected the taste of the food. If you are chopping something like an onion, you still have to cut it up into medium size pieces but it's great for blending up sauces or eggs for an omelet. We have larger processors for big jobs but this fits the bill when cooking for one or two people. The price was so good that we bought three so we could give a couple as gifts, and after using ours we have no reservations in it as a gift.

I've had mine for a good two years and find it most handy, but looking into the prices of extra work-bowls, lids and blades, they are extremely overpriced and for a set of above, one could buy a whole new machine! Shame on this gouging CUISINART!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love This Little Thing, September 25, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had never really gotten on the food processor bandwagon. I had bad experiences with older, larger food processors that either liquified things I was chopping, yet still left large chunks behind. Add in the time to get the appliance out, find place on the counter, and then clean it afterwards, and I could do a faster, better job with a sharp knife.

Then I came upon this little beauty. It's small enough that I can leave it on the counter all the time. It has fewer pieces, and can be cleaned almost as fast as a cutting board and knife.

The capacity is small, but if I'm just cooking for a couple people, it's plenty big for most chores.

It works so well that I've ventured back into my appliance closet, and pulled-out the full-sized food processor for some things I wouldn't have bothered with before. In otherwords, this little device has changed the way I cook by expanding my choices of techniques to use.

I really think this little thing is an indispensible aid in the kitchen.
