Don't let the word "reconditioned" scare you off from purchasing this...the one I got looked and operated like it was brand new. The compressor is great and relatively quiet for what it's rated for and the size. This is probably one of the easier compressors to carry around to job sites. The layout of the gauges and hookups are good as with the drain plug. With Emglo's name behind it, this Dewalt compressor should withstand abuse and should last for years. Definitely value for the money.

Over the years I had bought several reconditioned tools from DeWalt. The 18v DW995 Drill, Saws-All, DW959 SkilSaw among others. My DeWalt D55155R Compressor arrived as new in the box in perfect condition. ***YOU NEED TO ADD OIL BEFORE COMPRESSOR IS STARTED*** AS STATED IN 2 OR 3 PLACES!!!

DeWalt quality is superb and their reconditioned tools are redone in house with better quality checks that their new tools. You just can't go wrong.

I am a general contractor and tradesman who has used DeWalt tools for many years. I have always been satisfied with them and when I have had a problem I have always received excellent support at the local DeWalt service center. The compressor unit I just received had the manual, oil and dipstick in a separate package in the box with the compressor. For some reason they sent the wrong dipstick that did not fit my unit. Besides not fitting tightly in the unit, the measuring portion of the dipstick did not read the oil level properly. I was able to get it replaced at no charge at my local service center but if I had depended on the wrong dipstick to gage the oil in the unit I would have burned up the compressor and as it says in the manual, you are not covered if you run your units low on oil.

I have framed houses, decks, and finished off multi-million dollar houses with this compressor. I bought it new 5 years ago and have mistreated it every step of the way. I have never changed the oil in it, it is frequently left in sub-zero temperatures the only time I ever have any hardship is waiting for it to thaw out, and I cant blame the compressor for my not wanting to haul it out of my truck every freezing night.If you are running a couple of big guns fast (framers or roofers, or staplers) it stuggles to keep up. But I have a big compressor for that stuff. This compressor has been work horse for me and I highly recomend it to any professional and it would be the last portable compressor any weekend warrior would buy. I have had my compressor for over 5 years now and it doesn't leak and works great.

Yes, I was trying to save a buck...don't do the same. The product arrived with a broken air filter and they did respond quickly to remedy the situation but its a bad inherent design flaw. Filter is a thin cheap plastic part that has an interference fit within the unit. The unit vibrates so bad that it's sure to break again. Screws come loose and they really need to be loctited or secured some way. Shortly after recieving unit I found new units for less money locally. This compressor was a replacement for a Sanborne I had for 30 years. But it runs so I'll give it one star.

It didn't work. Right out if the box the motor was seized. I never got a chance to test it. oh well.

So much for being remanufactured. Mine had a leak in one of the gauages. Don't waste your time with this piece of junk.
