If this was self leveling and the adjustment knobs less prone to comming off, it would be excellent. It takes time to level it to the point where you have great accuracy. When you hang it, as in when you use it to set a drop ceiling it is even more difficult to keep level in both axies.
The knob coming off is a minor deal except for the fact that it takes a very small alan wrench (not included) to fix it. Oh, one more thing, the glasses came with a broken eyepiece.

Item arrived quickly of course, and it appears to be new. Maybe it came in a cardboard box that wasn't original? Maybe it had been previously opened? All I know for sure is that it works perfectly and I couldn't find any signs of use --- at all.

I'm not an expert in rotary lasers, but I can say that it's simple to use and looks pretty robust. The projected line is a little fatter than I expected (varies, about 3/16"), but it's easy enough to measure to the middle of the line. You'd have to do that with any thickness of line.

The 18v battery will be useful elsewhere, too.

As the owner of several new and reconditioned DeWalt tools, I was very disappointed in the quality of the DW073KR Cordless Rotary Laser. Recieved it with broken and cracked adjusting knobs, rack and pinon base is very loose and unstable on a tripod. But if you can get past all of that, it may be worth $143.
