This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned DEWALT DW106KR 3/8-Inch Heavy Duty Variable Speed Reversing 5.4 Amp Drill with Keyless Chuck and Carrying Case (Tools & Home Improvement)
I needed a corded tool specifically for boring pocket-holes for cabinet making. The pocket-hole jig manufacturer suggested a drill with 2500 RPM. After reviewing my options, I went with the reconditioned Dewalt. The tool looked great out of the box, but seemed to have more noise/vibration than I expected. Hard to tell, since I haven't used a new one. It's held up great. Its gone beyond living for the Kreg jig and handles most jobs a 3/8 drill could be expected to tackle. My 18-volt cordless does a better job driving fasteners and my big Milwaulkie hole-hog handles the large diameter stuff. But for smaller, high-speed work, the Dewalt has performed well. The keyless chuck works great for quickly swapping bits and the built-in level is very useful for through holes. I would reccommend this drill for its RPM and brand name reliability.

Buyer Beware,

Received this drill in April, in advance of a kitchen remodel job in May/June. When first used it sounded like there was gravel in it, and small pieces of clear plastic kept shooting from the openings around the motor fan. After digging out a piece that landed in my eye (guess you need safety glasses just to try out the drill), I called the DeWalt 800 warranty number. The number is Out Of Service! As a last ditch effort, I loosened the housing screws to see what was disintegrating inside the drill. Turns out the DeWalt repair tech had left an old level-cartridge (bubble level) inside the motor fan housing! Drill sounds OK now without the misplaced level rattling around inside - - but I am not impressed with their repair techs or warranty service. As a result, I am not expecting much of the drill and will stick with Porter Cable tools from now on.

Good balance, powerful. Does the job. My last drill (Skil 3/8") lasted 25 years (built a house with it) - I'll let you know how long this lasts.Six years later it's still going strong.
