Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Vacuum sealing keeps food fresh and flavorful three to five times longer than traditional storage methods by removing all air, the principal cause of food spoilage. FoodSaver's patented VacLoc bags, which work with this kit, are safe for boiling, microwaving, freezing, and refrigerating, so a sealed bag of frozen veggies can just be dropped into a pot of boiling water. The bags also can be washed and reused, are dishwasher safe, and are recyclable. The Vac 300 is easy to use. Put food in the bag, place the open end of the bag into the vacuum channel, close the lid, and press down. Meat and chicken are now safe for up to three years and fish up to two years in the freezer. Lettuce can stay crisp for weeks instead of a few days. You can even create your own frozen dinners (much yummier than store-bought!) by vacuum packaging leftovers right on the plate. This kit includes: the FoodSaver appliance, five each of quart and gallon VacLoc bags, a roll of 8-inch and a roll of 11-inch VacLoc rolls to create custom-sized bags, a user manual, and a quick start guide. The appliance is 17 inches long by 5-1/2-inches wide and has a one-year warranty. --Doree Armstrong

Editor's note: This is a reconditioned small appliance. Reconditioned generally means that the appliance has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings the appliance back to like-new condition. Some appliances may contain cosmetic blemishes.

5.0 out of 5 stars CHEEEEEEEEEEEESE!, August 20, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Tilia FoodSaver Vac 300 Vacuum Sealing Kit (Kitchen)
If you love cheese, you'll love the FoodSaver. I'm sure it does lots of other useful things, none of which I've ever tried, but the real reason to own a vacuum sealer is so you can keep ten different kinds of cheese on hand at once and never lose any to mold. I've kept cheese fresh for over six months using my FoodSaver.

This was offered during the Friday Sale for an unbelievably low price, and so I bought one to try it out. It worked great for the first bag -- and then the vacuum mechanism immediately stopped working.

We had bought a ton of food to store in these bags, and so we completed the storage process using my friend's more advanced model. From using my friend's version, I realized that this is a great concept (and product). But given the immediate failure of this entry-level version, I would give some pause before buying a reconditioned one.

5.0 out of 5 stars You gotta get one at this price, March 16, 2004

I paid full price for mine and love it everytime I seal that extra steak or pork chop for later eats. The other day I was smelling some of the bars of soap I bought, so I vacuum packed five bars and they are smell proof now. You can take the air out of wine and keep it good for another night - why drink it all in one night? You can also keep your peanuts fresh for weeks. You know how they begin to turn on you as soon as you open the can. Thousands of uses. Get one - especially at this price.
