It's a steaming pile of crap!!!

Not sure who "Inspected" this as there are "inspected by" sticker all over this things.

I'm was in dire need of a chainsaw as my original one was borrowed and returned not in the same condition as I lent it. Since I only use my chain saw once a year or less. I wanted to save a few bucks by going factory recondition. I have no issue with factory recon.

Well I received today and from the word go I was disappointed with it. Overall the machine feels cheap my kids Fischer Price chainsaw feels more sturdy. Installed the chain and bar, filled the tank with gas, and put bar oil in. I set it back down to start it and fuel started dripping at least 3 drips for second out of the cap. So after using some "fuel lube" that I had from the Military to slow down the leak. I finally got it started and started to remove some fallen trees. I was able to get a 1/2 a tree finish when it died on me. As I type this I can't re-start this machine. I'm so disappointed with this it isn't funny. When it was running it actually was a good little machine and that's why I gave it two stars instead of one.

**EDIT** 4/4/2013
When I receive this item and originally wrote my review. I had to leave the next day on business. When I got home I looked it over and went through the basic trouble shooting steps. Well everything check good. I however change the spark plug and it fired right up and has been running ever since. I should not have needed to change a spark plug in the first place. I'm not happy that these things are not rugged. I should have spent the money on an American made Stihl. Right now this is a good throw away saw. Luckily for me that I don't remove trees on a daily or monthly basis. Since it's been running and I was able to clear a few trees I added an extra star from my original 2 star rating.

Being a small engine mechanic and having worked on chainsaws for quite sometime I must say that this Homelite is the biggest piece of crap I've run across!

Where to begin ...

Chainsaw is prone to air leaks due to a design flaw with the carb mount!

Hard to start ... it's a real pain in the butt to get started and it's easy to trip the start switch into the off position while pulling on the piece of crap!

Pull starter disengages quite a bit making chainsaw a real challenge to get started!

Carburetor requires special PACMAN screwdriver to make adjustments to the low/high speed needles!

Air filter is poorly designed and allows debris to being sucked down around the filter!

The sad part is .... Husqvarna owns Homelite!

Oiler is non-adjustable ... so with smaller bars installed ... it waste bar oil!

Unless your just limbing trees or using it for chainsaw carving ... the 3/8" low profile chain is just mind dumbing slow!

Steer clear of this garbage .... unless you like fighting with your chainsaws then this will be a match made in heaven for you!

this saw was the right tool for the price as compared to Stiel. MY only concern is availability of parts

Started well and ran fine. Now it will not throttle up. I think it is a dirty carb. I saw it on utube.

I owned a Homelite in the past. This one works just as well. Starts every time. I would buy this again and I have recommended it to others.

So far I'm happy with this little saw, My first Homelite lasted 65 years! The only comlpaint is the gas cap is on the bottom of the saw, so you have the have a better grip than I have to tighten it leakproof.

Works great. Powerful. Read the instructions on how to start it or you will get frustrated!
