Make sure the bowl is securely attached so that the beater clearance is correct. Otherwise, it can scrape the bowl and make it very unpleasant!

I carefully read all the reviews and compared to other models(new and refurbished) before deciding to take a chance and get the refurbished. After all, it's Kitchen Aid and they have a great reputation. I've waited 20 years to get a nice stand mixer and I went for it. Well, it came in great condition, just like stated. However, I noticed a metallic smell the second time I used it and then the one speed seemed to hesitate before it would go. Needless to say, less than two weeks later, it only had one speed left-superfast. I thought it was going to take off and fly around my kitchen! The good news is, the next morning I called the 800 number for Kitchen Aid and the very friendly and helpful person told me they would mail me another mixer (refurbished, no problem) within 7-10 working days. They would send someone to pick up the broken one 7-10 days after that. No shipping costs to me. Wow! Great service so I will give it another try. Hopefully the breakdown of the first mixer was a fluke and I will get many years of enjoyment out of my very cool mixer.

I did so good on this purchase getting the benefit of it being refurbished it was for a lower price almost half off the original price plus an additional $25 more off. I'm usually "not sure" of "refurbished" items.. but I wanted to try this. Well I'm so glad I did order this one!
Also After I placed the order I realized it was $25 more I might have missed out on. Amazon reimbursed me right away for that and it was such a great deal... free shipping NO TAX? can't beat that!
I inspected it upon delivery and after "set up" on my counter and I did not see any flaws not even a dent on the mixer bowl. It's absolutley stunning on my kitchen counter as a nice "kitchen show piece". Thank you Amazon for the great deal.

If you can bog this puppy down, you're mixing cement (after it's set). My wife and I love it. Also well packaged and quick delivery

I bought one of these mixers fully aware of the fact that I was getting a refurbished unit that may not be perfect. Sure enough after a couple of months of pretty light use the speed control went out on my unit. It didn't matter what power level I set the thing to, the second I turned it on it would ramp up to its top speed and shut itself down after exceeding the normal top speed.

So I called up KitchenAid customer support - after hearing my problem and verifying that I was under warranty they sent me out another refurbished unit. Once I got that one I threw the broken one in the box and slapped the return lable on it, and away it went. Extremely painless.

As for the capabilities of the unit I will admit that I have not done everything that it's capable of yet (for instance, I have not made bread with the dough hook) but everything that I have done with it has been great - cookies, cakes, whipped cream, mashed potatoes, etc. Plenty of power, solid performance, quality attachments, etc.

Bottom line: this item is refurbished so watch out, it might not be 100 percent fixed - but KitchenAid will take care of you if you're unlucky.

We absolutely love our KitchenAid Mixer. I was a little leary of purchasing a factory-reconditioned product - but it was in perfect shape. This mixer truly gets the job done quickly and is so easy to use and clean.

This Stand Mixer is amazing and at the price of $199 was a unbeatable deal. Even though it's "factory-reconditioned" you would never know.. it works flawlessly!

I've had this lovely stand mixer for about a year now, and I've had no problems with it at all. It does the job, it doesn't move around even with lots of dough on high speed. And I love the lift mechanism, I prefer it to the artisan series.

I have both, but the artisan one has been in storage in another state for several years, and when I saw this one for such a great price ($50 less than now offered!), I had to fulfill my need for a proper mixer.

When the mixer is running at really high speed, yes, there is the noise of the thing working. Better it than me. And it's not an unpleasant sound; it is a machine doing what it was made to do.

I look forward to many, many years of great use and I recommend it to anyone.

I purchased this mixer for our church kitchen. It performs so well that I'm envious--probably not a feeling I ought to have at church. There is nothing I can find to indicate that it is reconditioned because it looks brand new. This product is a great value at half the price of new. Thanks for offering it.

Picked this one up and LOVE IT. 475 watts allows you to make doughs that other mixers can do, but not for any length of time.

It's substantial, unlike hand mixers or other stand mixers it sounds like it's doing the job but not struggling through the task. It starts out slow no matter the setting you choose (helps to keep you from creating a flour cloud). Included Wire Whisk, Dough hook, and paddle stirrer. Was able to whisk egg whites to still peaks for my recipe in no time.

Next stop the ice cream attachment. With the power of the motor it will handle it with no problem.
