With a 525-watt motor to handle bread doughs and thick cookie batters, this is KitchenAid's most powerful stand mixer, a professional-grade appliance with a heavy, rugged, all-metal construction (31.7 pounds) which prevents "counter walk" on the mixer's rubber feet. It has a 6-quart, polished stainless-steel bowl with an ergonomic handle and a two-piece pouring shield made of heavyweight plastic to provide a large chute for adding ingredients. Accompanying the mixer are a burnished flat beater, a burnished dough hook, and a big wire whip. On the front of the powerhead is a hinged cover for the hub to which KitchenAid's many mixer accessories attach.
This mixer's great features abound. An electronic sensor ensures mixing action remains at the speed selected from among the 10 available--even when the going gets tough. Mixing begins softly to prevent splatters and "flour puff." With the beater moving clockwise and the shaft moving counterclockwise there's no need to rotate the bowl for the beater to reach all ingredients. The bowl-lift lever functions easily. A ventilation system cools the entire mixer to prolong motor life, and a resettable overload-protection system prevents overheating. You will be pleasantly surprised by the "brand new" condition of a factory re-conditioned Kitchen Aid 6 quart Professional series mixer. You may be hesitant about buying a used/reconditioned mixer, but it is definitely worth the gamble. I surely won!The drawback on buying this re-conditioned mixer is that the one- year hassle free, at Kitchen Aid's total shipping expense replacement warranty, does not pertain to factory re-conditioned unit. The warranty is for 6 months and you pay the return shipping. If I would of known about the re-conditioned warranty prior to buying the mixer, since I live in Hawaii, I would of bought one that was not termed re-conditioned, because shipping to the mainland US is expensive from here. Using this mixer has been a joy and the speed that it can whip, mix and kneed dough is amazing! From a technical perspective, learning how to use the adjustment screw is a necessity in order to be able to maneuver the bowl and beater placement to get the closet placement to the bowl without being too close. After getting the hang of this adjustment you will be able to mix almost without ever having to turn it off and use a spatula! To keep your mixer running cool while needing dough it is best use only in an air-conditioned room. The instruction manual states that is normal for the mixer's metal housing to feel hot to touch, but mine never even got to a noticeable warm, even under the heaviest dough loads while using at a room temperature of 72 degrees. Amazon, because of their free shipping has the lowest prices for these mixers any where on the Internet. If you have a "Gold Box" you will at times find new 525 watt Kitchen Aid mixers in there for an additional forty dollars off. There are also many other incentives on Amazon that make their already low price absolutely unbeatable! Happy Mixing along with Hawaiian Aloha.

I've had this for a couple of years and it is the work horse of our kitchen. We have had no problems with it at all. We use it to mix anything (cakes, bread, sausage, pasta mixes, etc.). With the additional attachments you can make juices, pastas, grind meat, and the list goes on. When it arrived it looked like new, so I had negative experiences. My wife is the envy of several people at work.
