3.0 out of 5 stars Good price but cosmetically not so good
The motor assembly looks great but clear plastic parts were scratched up badly and had some small cracks. I got it for a lot lower than it is currently so I can't complain.

One of the casualties of our recent move was the loss of my "as seen on TV" hand crank food chopper (I think it was a Rocket Chef??). So for two years now, I have been making salsa & bruschetta by hand and whining about my need for a food processor. My husband was not interested in spending $100+ for a food processor that we would probably use 1-2 times a week if that. So I continued to whine and he continued to protest the purchase of a full size food processor (eventually we just lived without salsa!). You can imagine my delight when this Kitchenaid processor went on sale ... and for a whole lot less than it's current advertised price :-) I worried a little bit about it being refurbished, but the item was received with little more than a few *very* minor scuff marks on the bowls ... which we would likely inflict ourselves after a week or two. And for the price paid, a six month warranty on this product is more than adequate.

I am impressed by how quick and easy this lovely machine is to use. Assembly and cleanup is so easy that we even managed it without the directions. I really enjoy the simplicity of design and operation, and feel that this size is the best for our particular use. I was able to make a full batch of salsa in literally minutes, which is something that used to take way too long with my old Rocket Chef. The mini bowl is quite handy. I realized after my main batch was complete that I had forgotten a jalepeno. I just popped it in the mini bowl, hit the "pulse" button two times, and it was done!

I would definitely recommend this item to anyone looking for a "starter" processor or for an occasional use gadget, especially if you aren't sure if/how you would really use one of these. Now that I have seen how easy it is to use, I will be using my processor all the time! Another great design from Kitchenaid. My only complaint would be that the color that matches my mixer was sold out :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Makes good latkes and cole slaw, December 3, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid RRKFP350WH1 Little Ultra Power 5-Cup Food Processor, White (Kitchen)
I never expected this to be the be-all-and-end-all kitchen savior but it takes up very little room on my counter, makes great cole slaw and shreds potatoes beautifully. (I did slice my thumb accidently while shifting the slicing blade from one side to the other so now I use a kitchen towel when handling the slicing disc - be careful!) For the price, it's a fabulous product...

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't say enough good things about this machine, February 28, 2005
This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid RRKFP350WH1 Little Ultra Power 5-Cup Food Processor, White (Kitchen)
It is of really great quality, very heavy. You will want to have a convenient storage spot for the base/motor, it's way too heavy to be easily plucked from the back of a low cabinet. It is the most quiet kitchen appliance I have ever owned - I never hesitate to use it because it is so easy on the ears. It's my first food processor and I am having a lot of fun making stuff with it, you can put just about anything tasty in there and make wonderful dips and spreads. I made natural peanut butter with total ease - just dumped a can of cocktail peanuts in there and whirred them around, then I had to add something so it would be spreadable so I chose sesame oil and honey. Unbelieveably good. I put black beans that I have soaked and cooked into the processor with a little of the cooking water, season, and man is it yummy. I'll never buy another can of refried beans! I find that if you are making something that will be thick (like bean dip or peanut butter) it's best to keep your ingredient level to just even with the blades (or lower) - if you fill the bowl more you have to keep stopping and stirring. Not a big problem really, and if what you are processing is thinner you can fill the bowl to capacity and it will work just fine. The setup is so simple - the top with the chute just sits on the bowl and a little turn clicks it into place. The bowl goes on just as easily. Kitchenaid had the insight to give us tiny overhangs on the blade hub for our fingers to get a hold of for removal and little things like that make life good. I have also used the shredder for carrots and that works extremely well too. Assembly and disassembly are uncomplicated and cleanup is a breeze. This appliance has convinced me that Kitchenaid is the way to go - all future kitchen appliances will be Kitchenaid for me. I have owned this item for 5.5 months and have had no issues whatsoever - it is just wonderful.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Can't Believe I Got This Food Processor for Such a Price!, December 30, 2004

This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid RRKFP350WH1 Little Ultra Power 5-Cup Food Processor, White (Kitchen)
I just received my factory-reconditioned Kitchenaid Little Ultra food processor today, and I'm already in love with it. It's the perfect size for my needs, and is very easy to use. The blades change easily and work great. My processor arrived just as shiny, clean, and perfect as if it were "brand new," not refurbished. It doesn't have a scratch on it as far as I can tell, and the mechanics work fine. I bought a refurbished Kitchenaid stand mixer a few months ago from Amazon and I've been very pleased with it, so I thought I'd give this processor a try, and I'm so glad I did. The savings is just amazing, and now I have two high-end small appliances for an absolute bargain. If you're considering buying this or any other refurbished appliance from Amazon, I can tell you that my two experiences have been terrific.

3.0 out of 5 stars Food proccessor works but directions a bit complicated, October 13, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid RRKFP350WH1 Little Ultra Power 5-Cup Food Processor, White (Kitchen)
This is a powerful and quiet machine but works only if the food to be processed is prepared carefully. Most of the soft items (meat, poultry, seafood, fruit, and cheese) must be hardened by refrigeration or partial freezing to be minced, chopped or grated. The feed tube must be filled and the blade right of the feed tube. Different pressure is needed for different food types, and some of the items may still remain in large pieces on top of the cutting disc. The blades are "scalpel sharp" and must be cleaned carefully and individually to avoid injury. It does not grind hard items (grains & spices) or liquefy fruits or vegetables, or slice hard boiled eggs. It does chop, slice, shred, mince, grate, puree, many food items and it makes bread & cracker crumbs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Smaller Food Processor, January 22, 2005
By
This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid RRKFP350WH1 Little Ultra Power 5-Cup Food Processor, White (Kitchen)
KitchenAid has impressed me yet again. This is an excellent smaller-capacity food processor, and the 2-cup mini-chopper attachment is perfect for my needs. The quality of the construction is glaringly obvious. It arrived in like-new condition, too. Nobody would ever be able to tell this was a refurbished model. Overall, the value and utility of this fine KitchenAid product make it a real winner in my kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not too big....just right..., November 5, 2004

This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid RRKFP350WH1 Little Ultra Power 5-Cup Food Processor, White (Kitchen)
After reading other reviews, I thought I would give this reconditioned KitchenAid food processor a try. I was pleasantly surprised. The size is just right for just about any job, unless you want to make a very large recipe. It's clean lines make it look great on my shelf. The factory reconditioning was 100% from what I could see...looks like brand new! The price can't be beat, and trust me, I looked everywhere for a lower price, and couldn't find it. The only negative I can think of, is that blade storage scares me..these things should come with a secure storage area, as they are razor sharp. Overall, though it's a super deal and a nifty machine.

A lot of people got this particular Kitchenaid food processor at an extremely good price during a short sale at Amazon.

I've never had a food processor before, mostly because I dreaded lugging a big, heavy appliance around my small kitchen for what would be a minimum of use. But when this SMALL food processor went on sale, I thought I'd try it.

It happens every now and then, but I got the food processor that looked like a truck backed over it. It was a disaster! It was beaten up, it was missing parts, and on top of it, the motor sounded like a failing jet engine when I plugged it in. Obviously there was the unit that slipped past the quality control department.

I decided to call Kitchenaid to see what could be done, mostly because I had heard that Kitchenaid was supposed to have stellar customer service.

Maybe they do if you pay LIST price. They had me fax them my Amazon receipt, and the two CSR dimwits together decided that because I didn't pay ENOUGH for the food processor that they weren't obligated to honor the warranty!

I've bought a lot of things on sale in my life, but this is the first time I was yelled at for not paying enough! What incredible arrogance and stupidity!

It was THE worst experience I've ever had with a major company's representatives. I would caution anyone who doesn't pay a HIGH price for this food processor to beware if it needs warranty work. Kitchenaid will NOT back it up if you don't pay a high price for it!

After that horror, I called Amazon, and they set it right. What a great company! My dealings with Amazon are 180 degrees opposite from the ones I had at Kitchenaid, i.e., Amazon = GREAT customer service; Kitchenaid = CSRs from hell.

Now the amusing thing is that just because I didn't pay a lot for this piece of junk doesn't mean I'm POOR (yes, that is what our Kitchenaid morons thought.) I'm in the midst of remodeling my kitchen, for which I'm buying new appliances. By coincidence, I was about to buy a Kitchenaid refrigerator.

Well, it's back to the drawing board on that idea. Suppose I got the refrigerator on SALE or something? Then what would happen? Would Kitchenaid refuse to honor the warranty because I didn't pay ENOUGH?

I'll never buy a Kitchenaid appliance as long as I live. I really dislike arrogant snobs who think treating customers badly because they THINK they're poor is the way to keep up their brand profile.

Kitchenaid truly blows! And just pray that isn't what also happens to this remanufactured piece of dung!

I bought this processor at an incredible price..."a too good to be true Amazon price", and I guess I was one of the lucky ones. I can not tell this has ever been used, new condition, and the blades are so sharp. I have a mini cuisinart and a 14 cup cuisinart, but this KitchenAid is just right for soooo many things. I love it and will be lost if it breaks down.
