The one I have isn't reconditioned...,

..but I own a "new" one purchased from a retail store here in town. This product is a superlative one, has heft to it, the motor hums quietly but it sounds SO much stronger than other hand held mixers I have owned.. so far I have been able to resist the impulse to get a KitchenAid stand mixer because this little guy handles everything and anything I've made.In fairness I will disclose that I'm not a big cookie maker, and I realize that takes some heft when working with those thick doughs.. but this is SO superior to any other hand-held mixer I have EVER owned that it fills the bill in terms of what I expect to use it for.

This review is from: Factory Reconditioned KitchenAid RRKHM7GC 7-Speed Artisan Hand Mixer, Gloss Cinnamon (Kitchen)
I was very hesitant to buy this mixer. I was afraid buying a reconditioned mixer would be a mistake. As there were similar reconditioned units in other colors that cost more I was also afraid the color would be hideous. But it's not (something like nail polish) and although I haven't had it long, it works fine. I wouldn't mind the cord being a little longer but mainly I'm happy it operates the way you would imagine. I don't worry about it being uncomfortable to hold or too heavy or not strong enough or too strong (no low speed) or too hard to clean or too difficult to get the attachments off. Does exactly what I want at a great price.
