5.0 out of 5 stars never buy new
Ive noticed alot of guys buying tools that "look cool". And to be honest who doesnt like the look of a new tool in your hand. But after I bought this recon HammerDrill. I decided to always try to get reconditioned tools befor buying new. They are always in prime mechanical condition they have the same gauruntee as a new tool and they are half the cost.

2.0 out of 5 stars Reconditioned?
I ordered this drill as the price couldn't be beat. It is now on the way back as the chuck would not tighten. It was in the full open position and obviously had been used in a vice, probably to try and free it up. If it went back to the factory to get reconditioned they must have plugged it in and said that it worked and not actually tried it. I have returned it and...

First destroying two masonry bits on a poured in place concrete wall then renting a hammer drill from the local Big Box, it was apparent that buying a reconditioned tool was the best option. This small but powerful hammer drill does all the work required of its more expensive cousins. Being small is in itself not necessarily a bad thing. It is light and effortless to use. The drill made quick work of 3/8" holes drilled 2" deep in the poured in place concrete wall. The unit I received appeared brand new without a blemish or scratch. I'm not a power user of hammer drills but so far, the unit has functioned flawlessly on hundreds of bored holes. For the price of two rentals, you can own your own hammer drill.

If it went back to the factory to get reconditioned they must have plugged it in and said that it worked and not actually tried it. I have returned it and will try another, because the price point can't be beat, but if the next one is the same way I'll ask for my money back. I've never had a problem with reconditioned equipment before.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disgusted in the Midwest !, August 14, 2003

Received the Makita RHP1501K 9/16 drill today. I have never purchased anything reconditioned before and never will again. I was expecting a Drill that would be cleaned up and look as if someone had took the time to check it. The chuck was full of sawdust. Sending it back - someone else might be happy with it.

Drill worked great the first time I used it, then I was unable to get the bit out of the chuck. It was stripped or something.
