5.0 out of 5 stars Top of the line hammer drill!
I wanted a heavy duty drill that would mix thinset for sheet rock and for laying tile. This 9 AMP drill has plenty of power and doesn't bog down. The hammer drill worked effortlessly when I drilled several dozen holes in solid concrete to screw carper tack board down. The nails in the tack board don't work well for me. I haven't started my project that will use this drill enough to write a full review. I would like to say this is the second drill I've received. The first did not work even though the paper work said it had been thoroughly tested. However CPO was prompt to send another drill and a return label for the first. The replacement has been working very well the few times I used...

This Factory reconditioned drill from Milwaukee (through Amazon)arrived looking absolutely brand new and in a case that looked just as new. I saved about 66% and I am extremely satisfied!

5.0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee 5380 1/2" Hammer Drill, August 17, 2008
This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Milwaukee 5380-81 9 Amp 1/2-Inch Hammer Drill (Tools & Home Improvement)
I needed a hammer drill to drill 16 3/8" holes in concrete and cinder block. I found this reconditioned drill and ordered it. When it arrived I was amazed to see that it came in a heavy-duty case, which wasn't in the description. There were a few minor score marks on the tip of the Jacobs chuck, but other than that it looked perfect. When I went to drill the holes I was equally amazed at how fast it drilled the holes. I had used another hammer drill before, and this one is head and shoulders above the other one.

I have no problem buying factory reconditioned equipment, and the money savings is enormous -- approximately a 62% discount. When I need more tools I'll certainly consider this company.

Bought this at a substantial discount to the local big box home center price. Out of the box it looks like new and works like new despite being reconditioned. This is at least the 4th tool i have bought reconditioned and they are usually a great value. Drilled some holes in a slab to insert some rebar and it cut like a hot knife in butter.

5.0 out of 5 stars High Quality Hammer Drill, April 2, 2009

This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Milwaukee 5380-81 9 Amp 1/2-Inch Hammer Drill (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased this drill (new) a couple years ago from a large retailer that had it on clearance at the time; the regular price was approx. $150 or $180. One of the first things I noticed about the drill was that it was made in Germany and that it appeared and felt very high quality. Even the cord and chuck key were of the highest quality I've seen on any drill. In addition, the hammering mechanism is ultra smooth... unlike my other B&D hammer drill. In addition, this drill cuts through cinder block like the proverbial knife through butter. It's a great hammer drill and a very good value at this price.

5.0 out of 5 stars What the customer Ordered, May 24, 2009
This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Milwaukee 5380-81 9 Amp 1/2-Inch Hammer Drill (Tools & Home Improvement)
Fabulous buy to say the least. The drill arrived in a short time after order was placed and I was amazed when I opened it up. It has a few abrasions here and there, but otherwise looks and runs like a new drill. The carrying case appeared to be new also. I have not worked it to its full potential but I think it will do just fine. I debated about ordering a reconditioned tool, but if this is an indication of what I can expect, there will not be reservations on my part to ordering again. AN EXCELLENT BUY to say the least. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great tool, great price., December 15, 2009

This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Milwaukee 5380-81 9 Amp 1/2-Inch Hammer Drill (Tools & Home Improvement)
I would put myself in the 'active homeowner' category in terms of my tool usage. I use my tools a lot, but I don't use them for a living. I also appreciate well-built tools and will spend a bit more to get a tool that feels solid and not likely to fail after a few hours.

After considering a number of different hammer drills I chose the Milwaukee 5380-81 9 for its keyed chuck, power and positive reviews. I decided to buy a reconditioned tool because of the substantial savings. I was a little worried about some of the comments reviewers made about the condition of reconditioned tools they received, but decided to take a chance.

The hammer drill arrived and I carefully inspected it and drilled some test holes to check out its functionality. Cosmetically, the tool is 'near new'. There are a few very small scuffs on the plastic that are not noticeable unless you look very closely, under a strong light. There is a very small bit of surface rust on the chuck. I drilled some test holes in wood without the hammer and in concrete block with the hammer. The tool feels very powerful and well built and everything functions perfectly. In addition to the hammer drill, the kit included a new carrying case, detachable side handle, depth stop and chuck key. All parts were in the box and are in new condition.

The first actual job I did with the tool was to drill a dozen holes through floor tile and into a concrete floor to anchor a 2 x 4 with Tapcons. The hammer drill functioned flawlessly.

I chose the free shipping and didn't expect to see the tool for 7 - 10 days. Much to my surprise, CPO Milwaukee shipped the tool by FEDEX and it arrived on Saturday, 2 days after I placed the order.

I'm very happy with this tool and the service from Amazon and CPO Milwaukee.

This is a monster drill-driver, and the one I received looked brand new. No scratches, scuffs, scrapes, paint, marks, or damage in any way. Case was like new too. A great buy, and makes me a real believer in buying reconditioned tools from Milwaukee.

Buyer beware.Taking chances.
Despite of the positive reviews.
Seller sent heavy used item, scratches everywhere.
It looks like drill was used in rental shop.
Because inventory is engraved on the handle.

This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Milwaukee 5380-81 9 Amp 1/2-Inch Hammer Drill (Tools & Home Improvement)
I received my hammer-drill promptly but w/o a side handle. I had to call several times to get a resolution only to then get a back order notice w/o an ETA. They failed to send an Email or call me back when promised. It has now been 1 month since receiving the drill but still no side handle. I know the product is good but customer service is not good.
