Product Description

From the Manufacturer

This is a reconditioned power tool. Reconditioned generally means that the tool has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings the tool back to like new conditions. Some tools may contain cosmetic blemishes. The 6190-80 utilizes dry (a.k.a. cold) cut technology which will cut on average three times faster than an abrasive machine and costs 1-1/2 times less to operate. The saw produces little to no sparks when cutting and leaves a virtually burr-free finish. Cuts angle, unistrut, steel studs, channel, conduit, tubing and pipe. The base is a heavy-duty cast aluminum reinforced with a 1/4 in. steel plate. Tool-free 3/8in. vise and back fence. The horizontal D-handle provides optimum comfort whether the tool is on the ground or sitting on a bench.

This thing is awesome. It cuts steel like butter. Very few sparks but lotsa noise. Nice clean cuts. The chip tray slides out the back. If it slid out the front dumping it would be much easier. It could use a clamp that presses down as well as the one that is included. All in all a very fine tool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome cutoff saw -, July 12, 2007
This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Milwaukee 6190-80 15 Amp 14-Inch Metal Cutoff Machine (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchase tools all the time, like everyone else, my decision is based on quality vs dollars - getting the best deal. When this reconditioned cold saw came up, I couldn't pass it over. Awesome saw for a fraction of the price. For this saw, heavy duty, means, heavy duty. Very smooth and quiet. Lots of torque to glide thru metal. The stock blade is fine for aluminum. You can also cut aluminum with a standard chop saw - but this is designed from metal. Other reviews said the blade dulled out when cutting steel. As with most other metal working tools, either slow the blade down (can't do it with this saw) or add mist or fluid cooling. As for being rebuilt, my saw came out of the box looking "almost new" and it come with a warranty. Some far, no problems. I also switch to a Milwaukee circular saw (used to own only Porter Cable and Makita). Another great product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good - not great - metal saw gets the job done, March 29, 2010

saw cuts great if you follow instructions and don't trash the blade first. I wish the blade guard was see-thru to make lining up the blade and cut line easier (same problem on makita and dewalt models though) everything feels sturdy and smooth, except for the clamp that holds material against the fence. there is too much play in its pivot spot and clamping down tight against your stock makes it go out of square a degree or so. only important if you're planning on using it for precise fabrication and don't want to have to fine tune your cuts with a grinder. I took a close look at the dewalt and makita models too. the dewalt has a crappy light weight fence. the makita has a great lever for adjusting the fence easily and securely (the milwaukee fence, though adequate, is a bit cumbersome) but the makita is only 12" and you give up too much capacity if you cut a lot of large tube. all in all milwaukee's seemed to be the best over-all, though i did not actually get to test the dewalt and makita's cutting material. they're all decent i'm sure. My local construction supply cuts uni-strut all day long with the dewalt and they love it (and they don't need an accurate fence for that application) just be weary of reconditioned tools as sometimes it appears they are reboxing used stuff without reconditioning at all which is what happened to me. but one call to CPO fixed that, and they shipped out a replacement in a few days. turns out the replacement had some issues too so I just returned it and they were really cooperative!
