While I've not had the opportunity to cut with my new Sawzall, it seemed important to pass along the fact that the warranty is MUCH DIFFERENT for refurbished Milwaukee tools.
Their standard warranty is 5 years!! That seems excellent and probably well worth the small price premium over the refurbished tools which come with a 1 year warranty. While 1 year is not horrible, it is surely not the same as a 5 year warranty. Warranty length aside, my saw looks brand new and unused! Inside the new looking case was a new looking saw, set of instructions, warranty page explaining the shortened warranty on refurbished Milwaukee tools and a single metal cutting blade (not the two blades promised).

I ran this thing hard the first time I used it and it stood up to the heat. The metal I was cutting would burn your hand by the time I was done cutting (and I did that several times), but this tool held up just fine. That is all I can tell you at the moment, but I am pleased, so far with my purchase. I think I didn't get the correct blades for cutting metal (although they were advertised for cutting metal. I don't recommend using them! Milwaukee Tool 48-00-1430 9"recip Bld 3/Pkg Milwaukee Sawzall Blades, but it really depends on what you are cutting. For aluminum, you might try a carbide blade (see comments to this review for more that subject) Milwaukee 48-00-1430 9-Inch Tungsten Carbide Sawzall Blades, 3-Pack.
I have since gone through several metal blades and this tool keeps cutting like a champ. I think this is a very good tool for a basic handyman (or woman) moving into the intermediate level of tooling. The big thing to know is that this tool is great for taking things apart (demolition), but is probably not what you'd want to use for building things (construction) because the cuts can be a bit rough and the tool a bit hard to handle. If you want to build, get a radial or cut off saw Hitachi C10FCH2 10-Inch Miter Saw with Laser or just manual saw and miter box Stanley 20-600 Clamping Mitre Box with Saw.

Powerful,

New case, and lightly used very clean looking saw. This saw is heavy and powerful compared with other reciprocating saws. I first used it to cut some heavy steel pipe and it went through it very quickly at half speed. Its probably overkll for me but I'll never be wanting a more powerful reciprocating saw.
