I do all levels of carpentry for about 60% of my living, the rest is a mixed bag of make-ends-meet. First I believe that not every tool from a manufacture is a winner, I cherry pick tools from brands based on my preferences, design and quality. For example, I like the skil Super 77 but nothing else from skil, and I like the millwaulkee saws-all but not there circular saws. This saw is a standout for a ridgid, I purchased this saw used but still under warranty after a have great experience with an the older ridgid model that still is running well after twelve years. The earlier model just worked, rugged, portable, strong motor, true fence and never fought the controls. The older stand was awkward to set up and the saw was heavier. This model is lighter and the sets up better and faster. The fence are easy to true and stays true, and this is what makes a table saw, that and the blade. The controls are all on the front and work for larger hands. The power switch at your left leg/knee hieght and can be easily shut of with your leg, something I found out by accident but good to know. The motor has a soft start and I never realized that I would appreciate it as much as I do. The table is large and the on the left there is an extension of the stand, flush with the table that makes cutting full sheets of 4x8 alone less awful. The fence and sliding extension works great and extends to 25". Its not a powermatic cabinet saw but for what it is, its well built saw, with its gears, castings, motor, table and stand. The pros are, quality, weight, handling, size, functions, and power. Con's, it was not free. Its simple, well designed, durable and does what it is supposed to.
