First of all, I'm delighted by the drill. Small, powerful, light runs all day on one battery. I do theatrical construction. This machine will run all day on one battery for assembly of 2x4 framing. And the pair of batteries will work for all of the intensive drilling activity of a strike. I've never been able to out outlast the batteries.

One tiny quibble -

I'm used to buying refurbished electronics; laptops, iPods, DVD players, remotes, etc.

Most reconditioners make every effort to make the refurbished products as much like new as possible. On the other hand, this recondtioner has had every effort put into making sure that you know that this drill is reconditioned.

The caveat of "some cosmetic blemishes" is certainly true. Not only are there marks of the original purchaser's work, but the reconditioner has also heat-stamped "RECON" into the handgrips of the drill.

I bought this drill new a year ago at Home Depot (not Amazon). I love the drill...it's easy to handle and it has a ring clutch that allows me to set almost any degree of torque with a simple twist. I give the drill five stars!

But, after only moderate use, the two batteries that came with it are now showing "Faulty" on the battery charger (both red and green blinking) instead of showing the steady green full charge light. The battery numbers are: R86048 CS0910. I give the batteries one star!!!

I love the drill. Small size but a lot of torque. Flashlite is very bright too. BUT... Why would anybody buy it reconditioned and forgo life-time service agreement, while the same thing is about thirty percent more expensive at HD. Until few weeks they had a promotion - extra free battery.

Warning ONLY HOME depot purchases qualify for life-time service agreement.

This little 12V is packing some power. If you are a DeWalt or Milwaukee buyer you really owe it to yourself to see what you have been missing! Ridgid makes the the best power tools BAR NONE. I am a Ridgid man (Tools) for life. Buy another brand if you want, but when your tool is done I will still be working!!. Best chassis, engineering, and warranty to back it up. Spend your money on another brand if you want, but me and my Ridgid will out work you sun up to sun down... Son!

Sorry to say, but the Ridgid Brand name which used to be associated with quality products unfortunately does not apply to this Drill combo.
our company ordered about 10 of these combos and at first they seemed to function just fine, however after about 4 months the batteries on several of these drills stopped taking a charge (they are about $40.00 each to replace!) and some of the drill motors starting having a burnt plastic smell around the same time period.
the only good things I can say about this set is: The price was very good, the drill is a nice compact size, it feels very high quality -it's well balanced and feels solid.
the light is very bright and also is a nice compact size, hopefully Ridgid can fix the battery and Motor problem -until then I would stick with Makita, dewalt and to a lesser degree Milwaukee.

I got this drill at HD for $139, and it included a very powerful flashlight, two batteries, and the charger. As many others have pointed out, the charger is doomed... it's just a matter of time before it dies completely, but before that time, it will be quite finicky in general (wants to charge sometimes, won't during others). As for the drill itself, it lacks power compared to comparable 12v drills. I know that it's made for light use, but this thing is particularly weak... I only found it useful for super tight spaces, where small screws were in use (like inside of cabinets). On the plus side, the flashlight that came with it is awesome, but I can no longer even use that, since the battery charger is dead!

First, When I opened the box I was surprised to find "carrier case" very dirty, the battery and also drill... There was dirt in the electrical contacts of the battery.

I was very disappointed, I thought there would be two batteries as pictured and as in the "package" of HomeDepot, but I received ONLY ONE BATTERIES... After reading the description several times .. It is true the number of battery was not supplied .. It's my mistake ... But the picture is confusing!

But it was just the beginning...

After charging the battery fully, I tried to open the chuck, holding and using the engine (like all my other tools)! But it was not strong enough and there has been follow-smoke... Yet I opened the chuck easily by hand! I guess it's a defect in the engine, because for me this unit really does not have enough strength... I am not someone who is building every day, I'm not someone particularly strong, I weigh only 180lbs wet!?!

But that's not all .. When I looked at the lamp, was missing a screw on the case! (After trying the lamp, it lights up well)
I then leave the battery in the lamp for the night based closed and the next morning without having used more than 1 minute, the battery was completely flat again ...

In conclusion, I do not think a true test RIDGID product. I had a very bad quality of reconditioning!
Also .. I think the "BW Direct" seller could have cleaned a minimum the product and thereby, to inspect a minimum...

(Excuse my English, I usually speak French)
