I've grown to depend on this little saw and use it as much as my gas saw. It's important to use a (silver) One+ battery - else you'll have complaints like the other reviewers - but with the more powerful battery the saw has a surprisingly long run.
My 11 year old son works with me clearing our property and I'm contemplating buy a second one of these saws. It's light, it's quiet, it's safe.

the little chainsaw that could,

I have been quite pleased with this little tike. With the newer Ryobi bats this little saw can chew threw 10" trees. Granted that size tree does take a bit of time. Its performance is pretty amazing considering how small and lightweight it is. Anyway, as long as you know its limitations (this isn't a heavy duty tool) then I have no problem recommending this little saw for lightweight work.
Updated 08-04-2009: It turns out that I like this little saw so much that I ordered a second one.

I have one corner of my property covered with heavy vines with bases that are easily 4-6 inches and rooted in really hard to get to areas. The chainsaw is small and light and was easy to get into these tight spots(had to cut with one hand at times). It ripped through the brush with out a problem. I also used it to cut up fallen branches of similar size and it went through that easily also. I was probably out there for roughly an hour and a half on one battery.
I haven't tried it on anything larger yet but if I had to guess...I would believe it could deal with a small to medium size tree, just would take a lot longer than with a more powerfull gas saw. Definitely worth the money as long as your realistic about what you're using it for.

I use a high capacity lithium battery in mine, and it just goes and goes. Keep it clean, oiled, properly adjusted, and blades sharpened (like any other chain saw), and it will go and go and cut through most any small stuff. I use it to cut trunks to big bushes and branches up to 4" thick and cut out roots. Works great. For the price, you can't beat it. If you have other Ryobi tools, this would be a smart addition, as you can interchange the batteries. If you wear out the chain, just go to [...] and order a replacement for $9. Works for me!

I have two of these (I guess I was so impressed by the first). No trouble in quickly dropping a 12 inch oak tree. Battery life ... depends on the age of the battery: if the battery is say three years old it may indicate that it is fully charged but it won't run this saw very long.

This saw requires tons of patience. Makes very slow cuts and battery doesn't last very long at all. One reason it's so slow is the chain speed. But it's geared that way because the power/motor is weak. I've purchased many Ryobi products in the past, but this one is very disapointing. You get what you pay for.

I have a gas powered chainsaw, but find this product has many practical uses. It is great for trimming branches because you don't need to keep it running. It does a great job. I have had it 2 weeks and have used it 5 times. May sure you have a couple lith. batteries. They last about a half hour with this tool.

The chain saw arrived in good shape and on time. Oil was provided, but an Allen Wrench to adjust and connect the bar was not. After putting the oil into the bar oiler and using it a little it leaks or seeps out. I don't keep it next to my bed so that is something I will live with.
Pretty good value, they should package it with the needed wrenches.

I had very low expectations for this little guy, and I must say that I'm pleasantly surprised. It leaks oil horribly, but it won't heat up enough for that to be a problem. It isn't as strong as my Ryobi reciprocating saw, but I have gotten some good use out of it.
I have an 8 year-old son that I'm introducing to power tools, and this has been perfect for him. If you plan on actually using this thing for its intended purpose, you are better off buying a nice pruning blade for your sawzall. This little guy isn't going to cut through anything bigger than it's tiny 10" bar is thick. But if you have a kid that wants to cut down trees with daddy, then by all means pick this guy up.

My wife wanted a saw for small jobs around the yard, this is perfect for it. No cords to deal with, cuts well and easy to handle. Only issue is the battery life is short, so have extras ready if you have a lot to do.
