Less than perfect,

This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Ryobi ZRP815 ONE Plus 18V Cordless Compact Drill Kit (Misc.)
I got the drill with two batteries as ordered. It worked fine with the exception that it look like someone build a house or two with it. It was somewhat dirty and scrathed up pretty bad - especially the black housing near the drill bit. The bubble level was broken and I thought it was minor. Originally when buying the drill, I was thinking it would be new like a refurb item you see at the outlet store but it's rather something you pick up at a pawn shop. Don't get me wrong, it served it purpose for my litle house projects. I can't tell you how good the batteries are since never had a lithium battery before. After charging them one time, the second battery would not charge. The charger would just blink indefinitely. The first battery is charging fine. So I talk to CPO customer service and they are sending me to RYOBI directly because it's after 30 days. How do you refurb a battery anyway? Spend a little more and get something new.11/08/2011 Update: After 14 months, my charger stopped charging. I called Ryobi and they said that RECONDITIONED items has 1 year manufacturer warranty. Changing from 2 star to 1 star.

Good Deal for Battery Alone,

I picked this up for the 2 batteries included plus charger. The Lith Ion batteries alone are around $89 at most stores, so this package gave you 2 batteries, a charger, plus a drill. The "compact" part isn't really that much smaller than the regular Ryobi (Blue) drill but I didn't really care about that. All of the batteries and rill are stamped "RECON" on them.

Overpriced for reconditioned,
This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Ryobi ZRP815 ONE Plus 18V Cordless Compact Drill Kit (Misc.)
Not a bad lightweight drill. It has less power than the larger Ryobi drill (p250) and it comes with the small lithium battery with a much shorter run time than Ryobi's full size battery. If you are a homeowner who only needs to drive screws into soft wood for 30 minutes or so, this will meet your needs. I have had good success with reconditioned tools, but I only buy reconditioned if there is a decent savings. You can buy the p815 new at Home Depot for $139. Why take a chance on reconditioned?

I bought this reconditioned Ryobi 18 volt 1/2-in. drill-driver on the recommendation of a friend. It replaces a Craftsman 14 volt with a charger problem. Our primary usage is for household projects, fence and bird house repairs. The drill comes in a compact heavy-duty zippered nylon bag that holds the charger, both lithium ion batteries and the drill-driver. The drill is slightly smaller than the Craftsman and a bit lighter weight. I like that it has two speeds; even the slower speed is more powerful than the Craftsman, so very pleased with its performance. It has a nice balance in the hand, and the reverse is easy to engage. The batteries charge quickly--in less than an hour. The 2-speed gearbox and 24 position clutch allows for high torque applications, and a magnetic holder keeps extra drill bits handy. Since the batteries alone cost nearly $90, this is a very economical way to get batteries, charger and the drill-driver, plus the batteries and charger work for other Ryobi tools. I bought the drill for my husband, however, we both have used it and find it perfect for our needs.

Not the tool for my jobs,
By
This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Ryobi ZRP815 ONE Plus 18V Cordless Compact Drill Kit (Misc.)
I bought this tool a few months ago, on a "special". We have several Ryobi tools around the house, these new Li Ion batteries fit all the existing tools (about the only company that does this), so out the door I went. To be fair, I am a pro tool user. I work on boats and yachts. This does mean that compact tools are very useful, because of the sometimes limited space to get a tool to the work. I really, really like the Lithium batteries. They hold the charge, recharge quickly, and are a big improvement over the old NiCad packs. However, from the first week, I noticed that the chuck on this tool just doesn't get the job done. It Slips, and slips again. NO amount of tightening seems to overcome the fundamental poor design and manufacture of this chuck. Only with hex shank accessories does it deliver its maximum torque. It belongs on a Ken & Barbie tool. I also notice after a few months, that the power of the tool is diminished, and it stalls out pretty quickly under any serious load. THIS IS NOT A 1/2" DRILL. It has a 1/2" capacity chuck, but falls far short of the power to drive things you would expect a 1/2" tool to do. Would I recommend this to a friend - not if I wanted to keep them as a friend.

Nice Tool For Around the House,

I bought this to replace my first generation Ryobi drill set I bought several years earlier. The fact that the battery in this system works with my old drill, saw etc. is great. The new batteries make the drill lightweight yet still delivers the torque you need and battery life is good. I'm happy.

dont buy this or a new one,
This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Ryobi ZRP815 ONE Plus 18V Cordless Compact Drill Kit (Misc.)
In either case what you will get is dead batteries. If they do work, they will be dead in leas than a year with limited use. It doesn't matter if you buy a new one from home depot of a recon one. The batteries are junk., and guess what they will not even take a charge at less than 50d. that means no winter use,bet the contractors love this, but what contractor in their right mind would buy this junk. Case in point if your fix it guy shows up with these fire him on the spot. see youtube, homedepot and every other place you can rate its the same everywhere. Junk batters that cost $89. About $5 per use.

after reading the previous reviews I was very skeptical about the shape my item would be delivered in. To my surprise, it came looking practically brand new. Besides the "recon" branded into the plastic on the item it was in remarkably good shape. The only thing that showed any amount of wear and tear was the second battery. It had some wear on the plastic but charged up quickly and worked fine. Very satisfied, unbelievable deal for the price.

Overall I like the drill. However one of the batteries was dead on arrival. When I contacted the seller, they were not much help. I'll buy a battery from someone else and I will never buy anything from Damlow prices again.

Works as described. The lithium batteries last at least double as long than regular ones. Also, the price is very reasonable.
