The reconditioned hedge trimmer arrived in terrible shape with dull blades. Ryobi CPO states that it should be in like-new condition. This item still had grease stains on it and was in worse shape then the trimmer it was to replace. Sending back, at my expense, and will purchase a new trimmer from a reliable manufacturer. Buyer Beware.

This trimmer is powerful and will cut thru 3/4" limbs with persistence. It did would my other Expandit Trimmer (end of string trimmer) would not. The only drawback to this trimmer is with less than 1/2 tank of gas, trimmer shuts down due to fuel position in tank when turned to one side. Be prepared to keep the fuel tank full if doing alot of side cutting.

Unit apparently not test operated before shipment. Needed major carburetor and throttle adjustments and spark plug replacement before would operate. Repairs cost $25 locally.

First one was damaged in shipment by Fed-Ex. Second unit arrived immediately and Fed-Ex picked up damaged unit in about two weeks. Used the trimmer once and it worked great, I was looking at the Echo unit which was around $250. I've had good luck with Ryobi reconditioned items in the past so I thought I would give it a try. It has a larger motor and so far it has worked perfectly, hopefully it will have a long life.

The hedger was in a good condition right out of box. The blade was a little bent. I was going to call the vendor about this, then I thought maybe I could bend it back. So I tried it, and it turned out the blade can be easily straightened. Before starting the engine, I lubed the blade with ND30 motor oil. The unit calls for 1:50 mixed gas, but I used 1:32 which I had in hand. The engine started easily. It took 3~4 pulls, and then I gave it a test starting trimming hedge. This Ryobi trimmer cuts very well, and fast. A great purchase !

I recieved this 3 days ago and it only took 4 days to get from the time of placing my order (Georgia to California) with free shipping. The box was a little beat up, but the trimmer was fine. A few scratches on the unit from previous use, but I put a lot more on it in less than 15 minutes of trimming. It definitely took a lot of pulls to get it started the first time (probably close to 25). When it warmed up it would restart in 1 pull, even after being off for 30 minutes. The choke system is very easy, it automatically puts the choke in "Run" position when you squeeze the trigger. Cold starts after the initial start on this unit have taken about 7 to 8 pulls I would guess. The trimmer cuts great, it replace an old 22 inch craftsman and it definitely goes through thicker branches (probably 1/2 inch and smaller) much easier than the other type of blade system(single balde that moves versus the top and bottom blade moving on the Ryobi with larger spacing between teeth). This does not replace a chain saw nor manual shears, so if you need to cut items larger than 1/2 an inch, I would get a different type of tool. This unit has exceeded my expectations after cutting about 5 hours. It also has a handle that can swivel which is convenient in a few situations and also lets you hold in a different way when your arms get a bit tired.
I would say this unit is in the exact same condition a new unit would appear after using it for 2 days (so I saved 80 bucks and after 2 days it is probably about the same). It appears to be built more solid than my previous unit which last 10 to 12 years with 1 carb replacement, the blades would also be easier to replace, assuming they are worth the cost. I don't have a lot of expectations for carbs on 2 cycle engines, so if it last 3 or 4 years, especially with occassional use due to gas sitting in it for weeks at a time I will be happy.
I would have given it 5 stars if it started on the 2nd or 3rd pull, not a big deal.

this item was reconditioned,, it has a gas leak at the cap for the tank,, use wrench to tightned,, ok now
the air filter was missing with debris and bugs in the carb area. poor package the box was almost in two pcs.

I originally gave CPO a bad review on this 22 inch hedger. It was extremely hard starting. In fact, I couldn't restart it if I stopped it.

Well, CPO called me after I wrote the review and sent me another hedger that was reconditioned, but it started quickly and I shut it off several times and it restarted...that being the case, I'm giving CPO a good review. They took care of the problem. They gave me a shipping label for FED EX and I returned the first hedger.

I'm a satisfied customer now and feel confident in CPO's business practices and would buy again from CPO.

I bought one of these worthless items from an E-bay vendor advertised as NEW. Upon receipt of the re-packaged box I noticed the operator's manual stating it was re-conditioned....with a 1-yr. warranty.

After 5 minutes of use the unit (permanently) stopped. I contacted Ryobi & was told I (not surprisingly) had NO warranty. If you (stupidly) buy one of these, ABSOLUTELY make sure you get proof of purchase from the seller (mine didn't); so when the pre-BROKEN trimmer (soon) ceases to function, you can drive (numerous) miles for service (which probably isn't warrantied anyway).

In other words....ONLY A FOOL WOULD BUY THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a great find for a cheap price! It runs and cuts great! Arrived at my home with no damage and was in good condition! Great Buy!
