5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleasantly surprised
My hobby is working on cars and I'm always looking for tools to take the place of manpower. I had started searching around for a cordless ratchet because my air powered ones are too big, too bulky and too hard to get into tight places. I looked at really expensive ones and then someone suggested this little cheap Skil. For the price, decided it couldn't be all that bad...

1.0 out of 5 stars Marginal Tool
I had high hopes for this, considering the litium-ion battery, but the torque is practically non-existent. If all you're using it for is to spin nuts onto long machine screws, you might have a use for it, but it is certainly lacking the the power department.

First time I used it, it jammed, would not power in either direction, and took some fiddling to break...

My hobby is working on cars and I'm always looking for tools to take the place of manpower. I had started searching around for a cordless ratchet because my air powered ones are too big, too bulky and too hard to get into tight places. I looked at really expensive ones and then someone suggested this little cheap Skil. For the price, decided it couldn't be all that bad. As it turns out, far from bad!

Don't think this is going to bust loose nuts or provide sufficient torque to properly tighten things down. But, it will make removing small bolts (10-12MM) a breeze and you can use it to final torque as it locks in position after being turned off.

What is most amazing is the battery life! I'm sold on lithium ion as the way to go with rechargeable tools, you just don't usually find them in ones this inexpensive. I can use this all day and it still has power at the end of the day and will sit stored without losing battery life.

I also don't normally buy reconditioned tools but since it was from Skil, it probably got more personal attention to being done right than one off teh assembly line. Huge bang for the buck!

While this powered wrench isn't strong enough to break free rusted bolts and nuts, once they are lossened the wrench provides ample power to remove the fastener. Remember this is a 1/4" drive which is used for light fasteners. It would have been nice if Skil provided removable batteries so that one could be on charge while the other was being used.

I purchased this a few years back at a big box retailer. I haven't used it a lot (just a diy'r) but I made the mistake of leaving it on the charger for a few days. It doesn't say in the book BUT DON'T LEAVE IT IN THE CHARGER after it is fully charged UNPLUG THE CHARGER. If you leave it on the charger plugged in it will kill the battery. Skil was very good and replaced the batter for me so I am still a happy Skil customer!

I bought this tool to work on my 55 Bel Air. For the price you can't go wrong. It is strong enought to remove the nuts once they are loose. If you expect to break loose nuts with this you need another tool. If you want to speed up the remove and installation of hard to reach nuts and bolts this is the tool for you. It is well built and I have told all my car buddies to pick one up.

I purchased this item less than a year ago. Used it several times but when I went to use it today, it was dead. Made sure it was on the stand and waited about 2 hours and it was still dead. I would replace it if they were available but only with a new one.

nice product but dont use as a conventional ratchet or you will have a broken tool on your hands as you can easily over torque with the large handle
