Amazon was clearing these out for less than $30, so I couldn't possibly resist! Amazon calls this a 7-watt amp. Another reviewer said it was 10 watts, but that seemed unlikely since the back panel shows that it consumes 10 watts of electricity. And, disappointingly, there was no user's manual included to look up the specs in. So I put a meter across the speaker terminals and saw about 5.7 volts AC into 4 ohms. That works out to just over 8 watts, which makes sense because the speaker is rated to handle 8W. In any case it's plenty loud to fill a room and wake up your housemates.
With a mere 4" speaker you are not going to get "Gods of Thunder" lows, but it's a lot easier to tote around than my larger amp when the car is full of other stuff. Hey, it's a practice amp, not a concert amp! The product description says it has a midrange control, which it doesn't, just volume, treble and bass, plus a drive switch for that "dirty" sound that blues and hard rock require. It has a headphone jack but no CD player input for playalong. Construction is similar to that of larger amps, wood (particle board) cabinet covered with leather-look vinyl, with plastic corners and rubber feet, and a professional look and feel. The cabinet is open-backed for storage of power cord and guitar cable. The amp has a steel chassis and a heavy-duty power cord with three-prong plug. If you're ever stuck somewhere with nothing to plug your guitar into, you'll wish you had this.

BIg sound for a small amp,
This review is from: Factory Reconditioned Yamaha RGA-10 7-Watt Guitar Amplifier (Electronics)
I'll admit, I had a few doubts about this amp, being factory reconditioned and only a 4" speaker, but I was blown away when I plugged my Samick strat-clone into it. The tone really slices right through, loud and clear. Pretty well rounded, it provides a reasonable semblance of 80's Metallica with the drive on, the treble cranked, and the bass choked off. Put the bass and treble somewhere toward the middle for a nice full-bodied rough bluesy sound a'la ZZ Top. You could even dial up something like the EVH "brown sound!"

This item itself is a good enough practice amp but I was mislead by the description of it. It said that this amp had bass, trebble and middle controls and it does not have middle controls at all. I would have sent it back but I would have had to pay the shipping both ways I supposed, so I did not return it. I do think that if the description of an item is wrong the buyer should not have to pay any shipping at all. I am not sure how much I will trust the descriptions on here again.

I don't know much about amplifiers but am very happy with the product. When I got it I thought it would have been bigger but my son seems satisfied. It's small enough to carry around easily and it gives a great sound.
