Author Robert Locke MBE is a health enthusiast specializing in children's health and has written extensively on ADHD, parenting, mental health, anxiety and depression. He is a no nonsense writer who has provided a sound, realistic, multisided approach to the topic of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) not only for parents who are raising a child with ADHD but also for the public at large. Children with this disorder enter our lives no matter our occupation or position and it is information as rich as this that gives a rounded view of what is known about the disorder, the diagnostic dilemmas, the various medication treatment forms, the homeopathic treatments, and the behavioral modification that will aid all of us in dealing with those who are afflicted with the disorder.

One of the many aspects that places this short book above the others dealing with ADHD is the author's innate sense of humor and for speaking plainly about an entity few people understand. He is not afraid to quote the extreme statements that have been made, such as `To publish stories that ADHD is a fictitious disorder or merely a conflict between today's Huckleberry Finns and their caregivers is tantamount to declaring the earth flat, the laws of gravity debatable, and the periodic table in chemistry a fraud.' And from there he extends the healing touch to describe just what is known about ADHD, the definitions of the types, the treatments and finally some fine tips for parenting children with ADHD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic ADHD Resource! May 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is a fantastic resource on ADHD. It is jam packed with information, tips and resource suggestions - from a detailed explanation of what ADHD is, through the signs & symptoms, getting diagnosed, getting treatment, natural alternatives - to practical tips and guidance for parents of children with ADHD.

What was really refreshing is that there is no fluff or waffle in the book. Robert focuses on providing as much key information as possible on the topic, and never strays from it.

The section on tips on parenting ADHD is very well laid out, and Robert touches on a lot of key points, and offers excellent suggestions that are practical and that can easily be implemented to make life easier for both parents and the child.

Overall, the book is an excellent, worthwhile and valuable resource for parents with ADHD children, and gives a terrific insight into realistic and practical ways to enhance the lives of both the parents and the child.

What I loved about this book was that it was concise and informative without going into too many medical details. It gives the essential information about ADHD children and there are some great tips on ADHD parenting which I found to be very useful.

I was also very impressed by how Robert Locke approached the whole medication question, providing a balanced view. Although he obviously favors more natural approaches, his opinion is backed up by some very authoritative sources.

Great advice on parenting. I thought his practical approach to parenting skills was really spot on and will be useful for many busy parents. He also stresses that these tips can be started immediately although I would not recommend that you try to implement them all at once!

My only caveat is that the section ADHD diet was a bit short as that was an area where I really needed more information. Maybe his next book will deal with this very important area more fully. That is why I am giving it 4 stars but it is nevertheless still highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect August 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the perfect book for anyone with any kind of ADHD related questions, what I admire most about the material is the way that it is presented, everything is written with a straightforward, no-filler no-fluff writing style that gets right to the point and leaves out any unnecessary information. My son recently got diagnosed ADHD and so I have been on a mission of trying to find out more about it as his doctor didn't really do a good job of explaining it to me.

It's hard to find out the real causes and implications that ADHD sufferers may face due to the confusing hype that seems to be flooding the media. Thankfully, I came across this and now I feel much more content with how I am going to handle it and I what I really thought was great is how the book takes a natural approach so this definitely made me feel much more relieved. I highly recommend this book for any parents with any kind of questions about ADHD, I guarantee this will give you answers to all your current questions and any possible future ones
