I'm sick of artists releasing covers album...except when they are done like this. This is a well thought out and intelligent release. Many of Mr Womack's tracks I didn't recognise, so it was like they were new tracks for me. The production is modern and does not sound in the least bit dated yet still respecting that classic soul sound. Calvin has the vocals chops to go with it. It looks like everyone is giving this CD 5 stars and for good reason. This will be hard to beat for r&b album of the year. Awesome

I am a woman who is 41 years of age and grew up on Bobby Womack and others of his era via listening to my Dad's music collection. This CD as delivered by Calvin Richardson should make Bobby Womack extremely proud. Bobby Womack has always been a favorite of mine, and he is even more outstanding live!! Calvin Richardson's interpretation of the infamous and melodic sounds of Bobby Womack's music is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! Calvin Richardson indeed does this project justice with his unique and powerful vocal delivery of the lyrics on each track. Calvin is feeling every single word he sings...it's obvious that Calvin understood where Bobby Womack was coming from lyrically, as he put forth strong emphasis on every note attached to each of these songs. This CD is a MUST BUY for any fan of great soul music whether you are a Bobby Womack fan from way back or not....you will most certainly treasure and cherish this CD for many years to come. This project is a must have for any music lover's collection...to be handed down for many generations!! Calvin Richardson whole-heartedly did his thing on this compilation!! Nope, you can't have mine....you've got to get your own!! (smile)

I love this cd! I am still considered young (30) but love that classic r&b soul sound. I can listen to this cd over and over. I love the first song on here. I have been following his career since the beginning. I believe he was introduced by Angie Stone another favorite.

One thing I did not like is when he called the woman a "B". I am not sure if it was in the original but he could have used better judgement and omitted it.

I love this CD! I can't stop playing it! From the house to the car to my office!

This is what you call "Singing" this brother is truly gifted! He should be seen and heard more on the radio air waves and on BET Jazz. Thank you! There have been many artists before Calvin that have tried to immulate Bobby Womack, well this time Calvin Richardson has exceeded my wildest expectations. I did a search for concert dates and there are none. When and if he goes on Tour he must stop in Portland Oregon, I would make sure to purchase a seat up front.

There are certain legendary artists whose music should never be touched and THE POET Bobby Womack is one of them. However, hats off to Calvin Richardson who put the midas touch on "FACTS OF LIFE: Soul of Bobby Womack". The standouts are: "You're Welcome, Stop on By" , "Woman's Got Have It", and my personal favorite "I'm Through Trying to Prove My Love". WOW!!! If you want a GREAT cover CD that's all "fact" and no fiction, this is it.

This is the type of CD that frustrates me with the corporate cookie cutter radio stations we have nowadays. I have never heard one song from this CD on the radio but it is spectacular from top to bottom. I'm not a bobby womack or calvin richardson fan but I am awestruck over the production, vocals and overall mood of this CD. Definitely a throwback CD not for new school music listeners but if you love soul music, make sure yo buy this. My favorite tracks are Across 110th Street, Thats The Way I Feel About You, Daylight and Love Has Finally Come At Last (despite Ann Nesby hollering through most of the song)

This recording is worth checking out. He spends a little too much effort sounding like Mr. Womack and I wish the arrangements were a little more adventurous. It was recorded with real musicians playing real horns and strings reason enough to celebrate. Mr. Richardson is a real talent from North Carolina who I want to hear more of. Forget that neo soul stuff he just make real good music!

This is one of the best CDs that I have purchased in 3 or 4 years!! If you are a Soul music lover you have got to buy this CD. Calvin Richardson is one of the most "underated" singers of our time. I do not understand how the music industry continues to "sleep" on this man's talent. Buy this CD and you will see what I am talking about.

I love Calvin Richardson he is such a mellow authentic artist. When I learned of the remake of Bobby Womack songs I was eager because I too am a big Womack fan. I wanted to compare the songs to the original artist. When I say that Calvin TheSoulPrice Richardson nailed each song. I love to hear an artist didn't take away from the originality of the song but added his own twist. He is truly a great artist and you should definitely add this to your collection. Matter of fact get all Calvin Richardson Albums you will be so satisfied. He is definitely THEBUMSOSMOOTH.COM
