Book Description

June 1, 2001
This new history of the fastest growing county in the United States tells of Indian raids, political intrigue, broken dreams and broken dams, gold seekers, natural disasters, ghosts and an alien sighting, and the quiet achievements of neighbors banding together to create communities. The histories of Douglas County's distinct communities--Castle Rock, Deckers, Franktown, Highlands Ranch, Larkspur, Louviers, Parker, Perry Park, Roxborough Park, Sedalia, and Spring Valley--are covered chapter by chapter. Locations and descriptions of historic sites are part of each chapter.

This review is from: Fading Past: The Story of Douglas County, Colorado (Paperback)
I don't even live in Colorado yet this book made me feel like I was right there experiencing the changes of a place full of great heritage. The author has a wonderful way of taking you down a historical path, celebrating these places with such a lovely sense of place and roots and an amazing decication to preserving both the past & the present. A very enjoyable read!
