The very best faerie tarot available yet!,
By
This review is from: Faerie Tarot: Premier Edition (Cards)
This Tarot deck is the most beautiful, colourful and readable decks by the very talented Hertz! I have all 3 of her decks and The Faerie Tarot bumped her Vampire Tarot out of its 1st place for me : ).
The images are bursting with colour! Every shade one can imagine. Each suit of the minor arcana follows a season, so each suit has distinct coloura. My favurite is Autumn (Wands)...Hertz captures the melancholy sweetness of Autumn so well. Swords are Winter with gorgeous deep blues and snowflakes. Cups are Spring with scentful flowers and growing life. Pentacles are Summer with all their ripeness and richness. I personally have always followed a different interpertation of the suits and seasons....but Hertz does such a wonderful depiction in the cards that is was no issue at all to awitch and use these cards. I love how every card has a different vibrant colour, but they really compliment each image....you can tell whoever chose the border colours to match up with the scene was doing it with attention and eye for detail. They are a bit wider and shorter than average size cards, and they shuffle sweetly in your hands. I love this size! The backs are a stunning mix of dark and shaded blues, dusky white and a butter cream yellow. They remind me greatly of French County style! The minors are each and every one gorgeous. I especially love The High Priestess and the subtly gothic and dark Empress and Emperor pair. This deck reads very fluidly and intuitively. The images speak clearly and gently....very magical! I've gotten some insightful and amazing readings since I've been using this deck almost everyday for 6 months. It's a firm favourite now! The little white book included is much better than most. She goes into pretty good detail of the scene, detail and symbols of every card and what the arcana might mean or protray as a jumping off point for your intuition. I absolutely completely love and adore faeries and IMO this the BEST and most beautiful Faerie tarot now available to buy right now! I'm so happy Hertz took her time, love and talent to create this enchanting journey with the fae...thank you! If you love faeries, more whimsical style Tarots but still want a deep hard hitting reading deck....you will not be disappointed, order with glee = )

Colorful Faerie Deck by Nathalie Hertz,
This review is from: Faerie Tarot: Premier Edition (Cards)
"I devoted much time and pleasure in designing this Tarot deck, which portrays the four seasons. These cards pay homage to nature, its fauna and its flora, my sources of inspiration." - Nathalie Hertz, from the L(ittle) W(hite) B(ook)
The Faerie Tarot is a very special deck for French artist Nathalie Hertz, primarily because her two daughters were born during its creation. In fact, as she was designing The World card for this deck, she was pregnant with her first child. Convinced it was a girl, she painted a wee female fairy amid a delicate orchid for the central image of this favorable card. Resplendent with bright colors, the Faerie Tarot emanates a soothing, gentle presence, but doesn't shy away from addressing the vagaries and challenges that touch worlds both human and fae. From the impish, playful and proud Devil to the ageless fairy High Priestess crowned with a spangled diadem, the Major Arcana cards speak of wisdom and folly, hope and discouragement, achievement and respite. The Minor Arcana cards find their home among the four seasons: Cups for Spring, Pentacles for Summer, Wands for Autumn and Swords for Winter. Although the vivid borders lack a definitive color scheme, the cards within each of the four Minor Arcana suits do reflect the hallmarks of their respective season. The Faerie Tarot Swords show snowy landscapes, while pinecones and fallen leaves pepper the autumnal Wands. Blooming flowers and lush sheaves of wheat adorn the summery Pentacles, as the spring Cups suit sparkles with newness and promise. Measuring approximately 4 ¼ x 3 ¼ inches, the cards shuffle wonderfully, especially for smaller hands. The reversible card backing features a pleasing design in cornflower blue that washes out to softer hues, interspersed with white and sunny yellow accents. The Premiere Edition of the Faerie Tarot comes with a large folded poster (measuring approximately 19 x 17 inches) with a Celtic Cross template. The position placements are the size of the cards and surrounding text provides simple explanations for each. A starry night sky, leafless tree and white speckled red mushrooms serve as the enchanting backdrop for the spread sheet. Hertz wastes not a speck of space with her detailed art, so some may find the illustrations of the Faerie Tarot a bit "busy". Imagery alone doesn't suggest much meaning in some cards, but those who read intuitively or enjoy interacting with the cards via journaling will likely cull insight regardless. Because of the vagueness of some of the paintings (for example, the Eight of Pentacles merely shows a fairy holding a harp while eight golden disks encircle her), this deck may not be a good first deck for absolute beginners. However, the 47-page LWB is above average, so readers aren't entirely left in the dark should they be new to Tarot or find the imagery too static. Yet, a few of the card interpretations in the LWB offer similar or even the same meaning among several cards so this may cause a bit of confusion for beginners. I find the Faerie Tarot to be a very readable, accurate deck, especially for emotional and spiritual concerns. With its non-threatening, colorful imagery, this would be an excellent deck for children. Those who love fairies, as well as lighthearted decks, will likely gravitate to this lovely offering by Ms. Hertz and U.S. Games. Opening this deck was a pleasure! It is just beautiful. The colors and images grab you into another world. For many years I used only 2 different decks when I read for clients. And I have owned 100's of decks. Now I have a 3rd that I will use. It's not for every client but I have a few light hearted, happy souls who will just love it!

This deck has quickly become one of my favorites, and I own over 100 decks. The artwork is just exquisite and the laminated card stock and size are just perfect. Although there's a bit of a mix-up in card meanings, I am sure this won't pose a real problem once one adjusts to them. There's no doubt in my mind that the artist devoted much care and time to create such a beauty. I urge everyone who collects and loves tarot cards to get it, even just for the artwork.

I am a first time buyer. This is my first tarot deck and I have to say that I absolutly love it! I searched through literally hundreds of decks online, and after I saw this one I couldn't find another one that I liked that much. So after reading as much as I could about the Faerie Tarot I decided that it was the one for me. I love the colors, and the faeries are so beautifully drawn. There is great detail in every card. I had read that this deck is not recommened for beginners, but the little white book that came with it, was easy for me to understand. All my friends say that Im pretty acurate when I read for them too. It's easy to handle them and they are nice and smooth. This is a great deck and I know that if you buy it, you'll love it too!!!

This deck is lovely painted, its cards reminds us of some cards of the Rider-Waite tarot, so it is easy to get the cards and starting to interpret them right away. It's my second faery tarot deck and I'm impressed by the beauty of the figures and colors.

This deck includes a paper spreadsheet and 48 page little white book.
Opening the package of this deck was a visual delight. I felt I was instantly greeted by bright, vibrant colors and whimsical images. This deck definitely offers a fresh, new look at the Tarot. The four seasons are the source of inspiration with Wands symbolizing Autumn, Swords symbolize Winter, Cups symbolize Spring and Pentacles symbolize Summer. The deck size is a bit shorter and wider than standards, measuring 3.5" x 4.75", The card stock is a bit stiff, with glossy lamination. It has wide borders with each being unique, from flowers, shooting stars, hearts, dragons, to many, many more. The card backs are reversible and are done in soft shades of blue and gold. Strength is numbered 8 and Justice is number 11. The deck is also packaged with a 17" x 20" Celtic Cross Spreadsheet. The little white book contains 3, 4 and 5 card spreads. Nathalie prefers to use the majors only, in the upright position for her personal readings. She suggests, if you want precise details, then add the minors in as follows; for professional questions add only the Wands, for emotional matters, add only the Cups. For material issues, add only the Pentacles. For daily concerns such as health, studies or activities, add only the Swords. This deck contains no nudity and would make a great deck for the young or young at heart. It would also be a fine choice for those looking for something a little more non-traditional. Nathalie has a unique style of dramatic, medieval and heroic fantasy art. She uses gouche, acrylic and ink. The Faerie Tarot is her third deck. Nathalie lives in Lille, France with her husband, two daughters and a menagerie of animals. |
