I wish there were more..., September 22, 2008
This review is from: Fafner: Dead Aggressor (Novel) (Paperback)
When I first heard that Fafner have a novel I was so excited especially when I heard it's licensed to be release in english. I just have to get it no matter what! Well, I got it, read it, then wish there was more than just this one volume. (x___-')
In this novel you get to know even more about Kazuki's inner thoughts, insecurity, and even more of his personality. You also get to know a bit more about Soshi, Kouyo, Maya, and Shoko. Basically these characters are the main focus of the novel. I especially like the focus on Kouyo best. In the anime you barely get to know Kouyo before he was put aside, but in this novel you get to know the Kouyo you never knew in the anime.
In addition, you get to learn more about the incident involving the lost of Soshi's left eyes. In the anime you seen what happen and learned of Soshi's thought on the matter. In the novel you get to learn of Kazuki's thought on the matter, which explains a lot about their relationship also.
Anyhow, as much as I wish it was longer ('cause this barely quench my thirst) the novel is from Kazuki's POV. It only covers up to the End of Shoko, but if you are a Fafner fan it's a good addition to your collection. It's worth a read.

Fafner, only different, September 8, 2008
This review is from: Fafner: Dead Aggressor (Novel) (Paperback)
I am a fan of the Fafner series, so when I saw the novel listed on a news site, I had to get it. The characters are there, but circumstances are somewhat different. Instead of just a handful of pilots, it is mentioned that there have been a lot of pilots (one of the Fafners is referred to as the "yellow coffin"). The novel does not tell the whole series, but you do get a lot of insight as to the events from the first couple of episodes, as well as background on Kazuki, Soshi and ALVIS as a whole. If you are also a fan of the series, it is well worth reading.
