Book Description

April 18, 2000 0967832802 978-0967832807
A cross between the Unofficial Gay Manual and the SNAPS! series, Fag Gags: Reads By, For & About The Children celebrates, as its introduction states, the "crass wit, unquestionable timing, and acid tongues" of Black same-gender-loving men. Hardy and his co-author, Hassan X, have compiled a host of hilarious one-liners that poke fun at many figures inside (The "Blundering Ball Queen") and outside (The "Chocoholic") of African-American gay circles. While some of the gags will be familiar to non-Black and non-gay readers (on the "Frustrated Female," who can't understand why any man would "choose" to be gay, the authors declare: "Honee, I am more woman that you'll ever be and more man than you'll ever get!"), others are taken from the contemporary Black gay scene (on the "Homiesexual," the Brutha who just doesn't think he is all man but the Man: "You're on the down low? Ha, don't you mean you get down low?").

4.0 out of 5 stars A must get...Read! LOL., December 31, 2001

I received the Fag Gag book as a Christmas gift from
James E. Hardy Sunday Dec. 23, 2001. It is such a funny book, my only regret is not opening it on the night of my Christmas party and sharing with my guests. Well, on Christmas I unwrapped it and did not put it down until it was read...ha ha, from cover to cover.
I shyly found myself attempting to remember the snap back fire spewting lines. Hey I'm human and an entertainer.

I strongly dare and encourage any and everyone to purchase this encyclopedia of gags, and laughs for ones self and or family & friends.

James my goodman, keep up the great work-cause if you do then I'll keep throwing the GREAT parties!!!
Thanks for entertaining always.

Namaste & love,
Daniel Freeman Harlem USA.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit dated, October 6, 2000

I was somewhat disappointed with this book. There isn't really anything "new", basically you could go to a gay bar and look for a garish queen and just take notes. It has some good moments, but you'd be better off getting one of the "Snaps" books. JE Hardy is a good author, but this just wasn't one of his best endeavors.
