5.0 out of 5 stars Cooks Illustrated choice!
We purchased this cooker based on the recommendation of a Cooks Illustrated review, and we have not been disappointed at all! The 10qt capacity is just what we need for big soups, and the 2-level pressure system offers good flexibility in terms of cooking times and tenderness. 1.0 out of 5 stars Handle broke after 3 months, and customer service refused to help
We bought the Fagor Duo 10-Quart pressure cooker, and it worked great. After only 3 months, however, the metal part that attached the handle to the pot broke off. It looks like it was welded on, but only in a few small spots. We sent an email to customer service at Fagor, and Jennie Ramos from Fagor customer service wanted us to buy another handle because "handles,...

We purchased this cooker based on the recommendation of a Cooks Illustrated review, and we have not been disappointed at all! The 10qt capacity is just what we need for big soups, and the 2-level pressure system offers good flexibility in terms of cooking times and tenderness. We made a fabulous, tender and juicy braised short rib dish in less than 2 hours from start to table- not a bad deal!

2008 Update: We still use this cooker and are still very happy with it! Just don't overfill or you will be picking herbs out of the pressure spout :-) I have also posted a review on TrustedOnes.com (http://www.trustedones.com/listing/view/bbSzZgRY8r3yXhaocbDfzs)

Quick, healthy cooking. I have the 10 qt and the 4 qt and I love these! (If I had a smaller family I would have bought the 5 pc. Duo Combi set.) I've been looking for a high quality stainless steel pressure cooker that I can afford. Amazon's prices and promo discount made this possible. Great quality. Nothing like my old aluminum pressure cooker I had 20 years ago. These are so simple to use. We use them everyday. And I do cannning in pints in this 10 qt.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good unit - well designed, does a great job, October 19, 2007

I had purchased a Cuisinart electric pressure cooker, which I did not like - you can read my review under that product. I returned it and bought this one, which I like much better. No problematic electronics, larger capacity but smaller and lighter - easier to store and less $$$.

It's easy to use, cooks enough for leftovers - which will get eaten! Pressure cooked food is easy, fast and tasty.

This one is simple to use and has a good capacity - you can only fill a pressure cooker to around 60% of capacity, so a 10 qt. cooker can make around 6 qts.

You do have to wait for it to get up to pressure before turning on the timer - you don't go off and leave these things. But the results are great, some of the best food I've ever made.

If you want to try pressure cooking, this is good unit.

I received the cooker within the prescribed delivery time and was impressed by the ease of operation, the flexibility of cooking times and the wide variety of recipes provided. I owned pressure cookers for years and still had no idea of some of the possibilities demonstrated in the recipe book. The quality of the steel is impressive and the heat distribution is very uniform. I have only one note to future users and that is to test out reactions to the high setting on your ranges since a lower heat setting may be more appropriate to avoid burning sticky foods. Even so, the Fagor performed better on high than the two other makes I used previously. The 10 quart size allows for maximum flexibility in preparing larger amounts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Save time and energy, May 12, 2007

Good quality. Save both time and energy.
I was worrying that 10Qt was too big. But actually I0Qt is a good size for family of two or more, because in order to be safe, you can only fill pressure cooker half full.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back to the kitchen, February 6, 2007
This review is from: Fagor Duo 10-Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner (Kitchen)
I bought this pressure cooker one month ago, and it saved us a lot of time and money. I bought a 10Qt. Pressure Cooker, and i going to buy another smaller p/c pot. Fagor p/c is durable, stainless, well built, and shiny. I bought and used pressure cooker for the first time and the experience is very positive. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, November 6, 2006

This was the pressure cooker that was recommended by Cooks Illustrated, which is the reason I bought this brand. I was a bit afraid to use it at first because of those old stories of them exploding. Much safer these days, thank goodness. Anyway, I figured I'd can with it but haven't done that yet. I've been using it to cook and I really love it. This time of the year is great for those long cook stews, soups, braised meats... now I don't have to try to get it all started hours in advance because I can put it in the pressure cooker for about 30 minutes, in most cases. I thought that perhaps the flavors wouldn't be as good but they most definitely are.

One of the things I really liked about this cooker was that it came with the bits and pieces that will make canning easier; it wasn't just the pot and lid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!, June 26, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fagor Duo 10-Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner (Kitchen)
Very quiet pressure cooker (once I read the instructions on how to use it). Food cooks fast as described. Cooker is very durable (quite heavy) and large, so it can be difficult to wash with a small sink or if filled with liquid.

The box arrived pretty beat up, but the cooker did not sustain any damage. I suspect this is due to the weight and shifting around. All the styrofoam was shattered, the inside box (original, Fagor) was torn, and the outer box (amazon) was bent.

We bought the Fagor Duo 10-Quart pressure cooker, and it worked great. After only 3 months, however, the metal part that attached the handle to the pot broke off. It looks like it was welded on, but only in a few small spots. We sent an email to customer service at Fagor, and Jennie Ramos from Fagor customer service wanted us to buy another handle because "handles, pressure values, and gaskets are not covered under the warranty"! It's not even possible for attach a new handle to it because the metal part, which technically is part of the body, came off! I've replied to her with pictures of this and describing the problem, and so far I've gotten no reply. I think once they get your money they don't care about their customers, and they don't stand behind their products.

The functionality is good, but can't say the same about the build quality. If it breaks, don't expect Fagor to help you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fagor Makes Fast Cooking Easy!, June 8, 2007

This review is from: Fagor Duo 10-Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner (Kitchen)
This 10 Qt Fagor Pressure Cooker has become one of my favorite pieces of cookware. I can cook bean soup from dried beans in an hour or less. I can cook tender, tasty roasts from the less-expensive cuts of meats with only 15 to 20 minutes of pressure. I really like that it is easy and safe to use. Ten quarts gives enough room for a generous amount of whatever you're cooking. Every kitchen needs one of these!
