5.0 out of 5 stars Awsome pressure cooker, hard to find this size.....
I usually cook for one, I throw 4 frozen chicken thighs with BBQ sauce for 15 minutes. The shredded chicken tastes like pulled pork from the BBQ restaurant. The 2.5 qt accomodates the 1 quart pyrex dishes, which works great for cooking brown rice or beans. I love the size, it's easy to work with and heats up quick for a healthy dinner (& cheap)after work. I love to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not great for gas burners
This could be a great product, but if you have a gas stove, there are some major problems. On our stove when on high heat, the flames come up the side of the pan and burn the plastic handle, giving off a terrible burnt plastic smell. The smell doesn't get into the food (since the pan is closed) but it does smell up the house for a day, not to mention that the plastic...

Especially great since I did not know how to cook prior to using a pressure cooker. No audible rocker, but I got used to the slight hissing noise to know pressure has been reached.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fagor Duo 2.5 Pressure Skillet, March 20, 2006
This review is from: Fagor Duo 2.5 qt Pressure Skillet with Glass lid (Kitchen)
I have always hear horror stories of how difficult a pressure cooker was to use and how they would blow up on you etc. The Fagor pressure skillet is easy to use and comes with a nice illustrated cookbook. The meals from the cookbook are delicious and cook quickly. It is a perfect size to cook a meal for 2 to 4 people. Not only is it a pressure cooker, but you can use it as a regular pot with the glass lid. This has definitely been a wise purchase for me, a working woman because I am able to make delicious meals in a short period of time.

The Skillet is everything they said it was. The most important features for me is:
1. prepares COMPLETE meals in 30 minutes: its so easy that my daughters are happy to make dinner. Meats are outstanding prepared this way.

2. Clean-up is fast! the skillet is easy to wash...no more sinks full of pots!

Great size for smaller meals. Its a great little pressure cooker that doubles as a skillet. I use it for both a lot! Easy to use and clean. I've been very happy with it.

This could be a great product, but if you have a gas stove, there are some major problems. The smell doesn't get into the food (since the pan is closed) but it does smell up the house for a day, not to mention that the plastic handles probably will not last too many more occasions of this. I do try never, when using this pan, to turn up the heat, but sometimes I forget and the same thing happens.

The pan would be much better if it had metal handles (but then they'd be hot to the touch).

4.0 out of 5 stars Good pressure cooker.. buy new, November 17, 2010

Fagor pressure cookers are excellent heat conductors and work well on induction. I would advise buying new. I purchased this one via internet and the condition was not identified correctly. I grew up with the "jigglers" so the quiet hiss of the Fagor is very pleasant. The guide books are accurate. Just fixed a 3 pound brisket in 45 minutes yesterday... very moist! They do require a 3 point cleaning system each use. The one purchased via amazon.com had not been maintained and is limited in use. Beware purchasing used pressure cookers!
