Pressure cooking uses pressurized steam to cook healthy meals with beans, grains, meat, poultry, and seafood in much less time than many other cooking methods require. Made in Spain, the Splendid Plus pressure cooker holds a maximum capacity of 7 quarts of rice or beef stew and works on all heat sources. The cooker is constructed of high-quality 18/10 stainless steel with an encapsulated aluminum base for even and efficient heat distribution. For safety, the pressure cooker has dual pressure settings on its handle--one in a dial control and another on a valve. Other safety measures include two pressure release valves and a locking handle to prevent the unit from opening while under pressure. A visual indicator lets you know when all the pressure has been released and the cooker is ready to open. In addition, to the standard stainless-steel steamer basket and trivet that comes with most pressure cookers, the Splendid Plus model comes with some extra cookware. Cookware includes a baking dish and a pasta insert—both made of 18/10 stainless steel—and a tempered glass lid for converting the cooker into a stockpot. The set that I received today was not the set I ordered. I expected to receive a 7 quart cooker, a pasta insert, a baking insert, a steamer, and a glass lid. What I got was a 7 qt cooker, a 4 quart cooker, a steamer insert, and a glass lid. I now have to spend [money] for the pasta and baking inserts.
