5 of 5 people found the following review helpful By John E. on March 3, 2014
I did my homework prior to purchasing this product. I live in Lakeville, MN so needless to say the winter has been brutal this year. I have a 3-car insulated garage with insulated 2" thick steel overhead doors. I updated my garage and added a man cave to the 3rd stall. I wanted to be able to utilze it in the winter months. I priced gas heaters designed for garages but no matter how I priced it, they were coming in at $2300+. too much for my purpose. I read many reviews on this 7500 watt heater and found that overall, the rating's seemed 4- stars on average. I purchased the unit via Amazon for $399 (yes, the prices vary). It arrived about 4 days later in perfect shape. I had an electrician friend of mine wire the unit to my breaker box. He used a 2-pole 40 amp breaker and the wire was 8/3 NMG with ground. The breaker via Home Depot was about $9 and the wire about $2.50 per foot. He added some nice flexible conduit to encase the wire leading into the ceiling. The heater works great. My garage is about 750 sq. ft and it was up to 60 degrees in about 30 mins. The dial knob for the thermostat works well and with that knob, I can simply turn the heater all the way off. I'm not worried about the electricity cost as I will only use this as needed. With install and parts, I have just $550 in this, compared to the $2300 for gas. This will work just fine for my needs and it doesn't take up much room either.
