Too Predictable,

This review is from: Failure to Appear (J. P. Beaumont) (Kindle Edition)
I tried to get into this author's work after reading the reviews, but I couldn't find much joy in the pacing, the plot, or the overall quality of her writing. It was similar to playing solitaire on the computer. Time flies but you're not really having much fun. Maybe the author has a computer bot writing these for her now.

This review is from: Failure to Appear (J. P. Beaumont) (Kindle Edition)
Once you get past a certain point, the book is very good. It's Ms. Jance's typical JP Beaumont series book with a few very good twists & surprises thrown in. You'll not figure them out until Ms. Jance decides to let you in on them. It's nicely done, and I like Beaumont the best of her series characters. To be honest, I almost put it down, had it not been for a Beaumont book. The first 75-100 pages are merely a tale of a dysfunctional family. It takes a while for this thing to get going. The end, as well, could have finished shortly after the antagonist meets a deserving fate. Some epilogue would have worked well. Here, there is no epilogue. Only chapters that continue after the main story is finished. Some is worthy; most is fluff. The body of this book was strong enough for a good rating. The long beginning is tedious |
