Two rare Peter Bellamy albums get a re-issue from 'Fellside Recordings' a small independent folk focused label in the U.K. The first disc of 'Fair Annie' is actually the self titled 'Peter Bellamy' album recorded in 1975 to support a U.S. tour and released in limited quantities. There are also bonus tracks here from the same sessions. The second disc is the 'Fair Annie' album which was issued by Peter on tape in a limited edition of only 500 copies back in 1983. These were only sold at gigs and by mail order. So two of the rare Bellamy releases in one package.

The sleeve notes explain the 'Peter Bellamy' master tape was not in particularly good shape, but was cleaned up significantly. You can hear that it isn't 100%, but it is nice to have this album.

On balance I actually prefer the 'Fair Annie' album to 'Peter Bellamy' Fellside, have done a wonderful job in bringing these out.

The Voice of Peter Bellamy is an acquired taste. You either like it or you don't. I found that it grew on me. If you are just starting to get into Peter Bellamy, skip this release for now and buy 'Oak and Ash and Thorn' or 'Fair England's Shore'(which is a compilation of Peters first three solo albums) If you end up enjoying Bellamy, then you will end up buying all his releases.
