This review is from: Fair Dealing and Clean Playing: The Hilldale Club and the Development of Black Professional Baseball, 1910-1932 (Library Binding)
This is an absorbing look at Hilldale club, a Philadelphia based black team. It also tells the story of how black baseball got started and prospered during the 1920s. There was a great deal in here in which I was not aware of before. Lots of great pix too! Highly recommended.

Always a baseball fan, I picked up this book randomly on an obscure shelf at the library because I did not know too much about the Negro Leagues. This book was EXCELLENT! From here, I read many other books about the Negro Leagues. Although geared more for the academic than the casual reader, I still highly recommend it.
