I enjoyed the first book and also enjoyed this one. I really hope the author keeps going with his characters. Now, are they perfect - no. As somebody who is very gunny ther are something that bug me.First of I seriously doubt that anybody who went through Army sniper training and was a deployed sniper in the sand box would return to civilian life and take up with a Ruger Number One. His training would most likely have been with a bolt gun and that is what he would be most comfortable with. He needs to ditch the number one and get equipped with a good bolt gun. He also needs to learn that any empty pistol isn't much good and makes a lousy impact weapon; and i don't care what Sgt Richter said. How many cops carry semi auto pistols without a round in the chamber? None is correct. I'd also like to see the author develop the relationship with Jenny.

All in all a good book and I'd recomend it.

I'd also like to see both volumes, and any future volumes, released on Kindle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Small town suspense, May 13, 2009

In the second Mineral County mystery, former Deputy Sheriff Bill Tatum ( if you read the first, you'll know why he's the sheriff ) finds a councilman shot in the high country during hunting season. Was it an accident or murder? I really like the character of Bill, a young former Army sniper, still trying to learn the ropes on the investigating part of being a sheriff. Mr. McNamara really gives you a great feel of living in a small Colorado mountain town. From the different type of folks that call Belmont home, to great descriptive writing of the outdoors. I really enjoyed both books in this series. I hope he decides to contiue the adventures and mishaps of Sheriff Tatum.
