From Booklist

As Keating continues her Games series, River hasn’t been idle in the months since Hawk’s soul returned to his body on his home world. Enemies are on her trail, and she’s developed a hologram program to help her ragtag group survive. She’s also been preparing them for Hawk’s return and the Guardians he’ll bring with him, who are determined to nullify technology on earth, to either make its inhabitants learn to work together and live or continue as they are now and die. At times the story is confusing without reminders of the identities of characters from the first two books, Game Over (2010) and Mind Games (2011), but, overall, Keating’s new dystopian tale delivers a captivating blend of science, fantasy, and heartfelt romance. --Nina C. Davis

About the Author

Taylor Keating is the pseudonym of writing team Catherine Verge and Paula Altenburg.

Catherine Verge

A multi published author in the romance genre under another pen name, Catherine is a wife, mom, sister, daughter, and friend. She loves dogs, sunny weather, anything chocolate (she never says no to a brownie) pizza and red wine. She has two teenagers who keep her busy with their never ending activities, and a husband who is convinced he can turn her into a mixed martial arts fan. Catherine can never find balance in her life, is always trying to find time to go to the gym, can never keep up with emails, Facebook or Twitter and tries to write page-turning books that her readers will love.

A maritime native and former financial officer, Catherine has lived all over Canada but has finally settled down in her childhood hometown with her family.

Paula Altenburg

The other half of Taylor Keating, Paula grew up in rural Nova Scotia knowing that at some point in her life she was going to be a fiction writer. Swapping Louis L’Amour and Zane Grey books with her father guaranteed she wasn’t going to be the next Jane Austen, much to the dismay of her English teacher mother. A degree in Social Anthropology from the University of King’s College and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, again meant writing was the logical (meaning only) career path for her, although it did confirm her belief that learning is a life-long experience.

She now works in the Aerospace industry, which surprises everyone who knows her. Happily married, with two terrific sons, she continues to live in rural Nova Scotia but makes a point of traveling as much as she can. New York and Brussels are tied for her favorite cities of all time.

Paula Altenburg
The other half of Taylor Keating, Paula grew up in rural Nova Scotia knowing that at some point in her life she was going to be a fiction writer. Swapping Louis L'Amour and Zane Grey books with her father guaranteed she wasn't going to be the next Jane Austen, much to the dismay of her English teacher mother.

University followed. A degree in Social Anthropology from the University of King's College and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, again meant writing was the logical (meaning only) career path for her, although it did confirm her belief that learning is a life-long experience. She's taken business courses, writing courses, and physiology of aquatic animals courses, all at the university level and all for fun.

She now works in the Aerospace industry, which surprises everyone who knows her. Happily married, with two terrific sons, she continues to live in rural Nova Scotia but makes a point of traveling as much as she can. New York and Brussels are tied for her favorite cities of all time.

She reads in all genres, which isn't surprising considering her life is all over the board, but fantasy and paranormal romance are her writing loves. Sorry Dad, Louis L'Amour's job was already taken.

In Fair Game, Taylor Keating finishes the Guardian series which is a brilliant mix of sci fi and fantasy. Readers were introduced to a whole new world and mythology. We followed the story of River and Hawk meeting them and learning more about their pasts and their worlds. Both are strong, developed characters in a truly unique series with a fleshed out world mythos. River and Hawk are interesting, well developed characters fighting against time to save each other and her world.

This was a great wrap up to the first two books and further delves into who and what River really is. I had been looking forward to finding out more about this fantasy world and what makes these characters tick, and Taylor Keating doesn't disappoint. I'd love to see this on screen. It would make a great sci fi / paranormal movie!

I heard Taylor Keating is developing a new series and can't wait to get my hands on it. They're definitely a writing team to keep an eye on.

On his Guardian home world after having been released from stasis Chase Hawkins is anxious to return to Earth and to River, his superiors have decided that Earth isn't ethically ready for the technology they have, the so Chase and his team are ordered to "defuse" it, he now has to not only get to her but to explain what is going to happen.
Before he leaves Chase discovers a insidious plot for Earth and a secret about River's lineage which leads him to an uneasy alliance with the spiritual leader of the Fae, but he'll do whatever it takes to get to her.
Earth is on the brink of total destruction after pandemic, war and corrupt malevolent leaders and River is just trying to bide her time until Chase returns by protecting those she cares for, but she's loosing this battle too when she not only has to worry about the evil military villain still pursing her but now a new virus is spreading and she's afraid it may have something to do with the hologram program she's created.
Will Chase and River find each other and the answers to save her world or will it all be lost in the blink of an eye.

The incredibly talented writing team known as Taylor Keating has done it again, blown it out of the sky with this the third in their fantasy/sci-fi/romance Guardian series. They continue to amaze this fan by the imaginative on going storyline which crosses not only genre boundaries but galaxies and planets as well. In this installment they continue the epic romantic saga of their protagonists River and Chase, who's love for each other and righteous beliefs are stand outs, but it's all the minor actors in their play that make the differences too from the evilest of fiends to the purest of hearts and all in between who bring the images and voices from the pages onto the screen in my mind. Her romance continues with an against all odds feel and her love scenes would brighten any dark night.
But to enjoy the full scope of this series they're best read in order.

Fair Game is the third installment in Taylor Keating's dark urban fantasy featuring game designer River Weston and Guardian Chase Hawkins. It's edge of the seat action in a clever, creative plot that pits Hawk and River against each other even as they succumb to the inevitable attraction between them. Keating's writing is smooth and accessible, pulling you into a world of vibrant emotions and a visual landscape that makes the story come alive. The secondary characters are well rounded and add to the plot, the dialogue is sharp and the pacing is fast. I was hooked from page one and couldn't put it down until I'd read the very last page. I'm a big fan and hope there's more books to come from this writing team.

FAIR GAME is book 3 in the Guardian series. We left off book 2 with Hawk being sent back to his own body and River being left in her world. FAIR GAMES starts up right after that then jumps about 4 months later in a short amount of time.

In FAIR GAME the characters are easy to like, the bad guys are easy to hate. The situations are crazy, intense and full of suspenseful action. The world that Taylor Keating writes about is full of interesting scenarios and dangerous beings, I would never have guessed the Guardian books are written by a team of 2, it flows well. Its crazy how the technology River has created works and how it benefits the "demons". The romance between Hawk and River continues to be intense and full of passion. There were a few things in book 3 I would have liked to have known more about (River's Fae Grandfather, The death of her half family members) But I still enjoyed it with the information that was given.

A lot of things get settled in FAIR GAME, I'm not sure if there are any more books planned in the series but I would be happy with FAIR GAME being the last book if that were the case.

River Weston, a video game designer and Earthling with a Fae heritage of some sort, is still on the run from the people who would use her games and abilities to help destroy Earth. River has little help now with her battle to save Earth but has the help of the children who move and live in the underground; the children who battle to survive daily. River also has her baby brother with her now, but he is still recovering from the shock of what happened to the family. River is still hoping that the one man she loves will keep his promise and find a way back to her before all is lost.

Chase Hawkins is the guardian who discovered not only that a Dark Lord still existed in exile and was held prisoner by him for years, but also found River, a woman who should have never existed. After having to fight with River as a hologram and then by borrowing a body, Chase was pulled back to his own world and into his own body. But now he is fighting to get approval to travel back to Earth and to find River before he loses her forever. As a Guardian, Chase would have thought he would be given approval for his plan and his team but something has changed in the Council and it is not for the good.

Just when River wonders if she has come to the end, Chase arrives with a team. But something seems to have changed with Chase and River wonders if he is still on her side or if he is now determined to destroy Earth before it can infect the other civilizations light years away from them. Battling the greedy in charge is tough but not as tough as battling each other. However just when each wonders if their love is lost, the sparks flare up again and shows both River and Chase that their passion is still strong.
