5.0 out of 5 stars All hits on this album, August 14, 2009
This review is from: Fair Time! (Audio CD)
This is Kate's first CD of all original songs and it's full of nothing but hits. From the rollicking and droll "Soap Opera Life" to the heartfelt "Red Tail" to the cyberage bashing "Brake Job" and the toe tapping "Make it Count," this CD is a huge winner.

Another wonderful song on the album is Kate's tribute to her musical family, "Sun Did Shine (on Carolina)" Each verse celebrates one of her brothers (Alex, James, Livingston and Hugh) and his unique qualities. The chorus wryly refers to all of them as "the Chapel Hillbillys" and remembers their musical times at home "around the table, a family choir" and ends with "we've got songs for you."

Oh yes they do...and these, of Kate's, are among the best ever. Bravo Kate!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Oh God, Here Comes Trouble...!!" (LOL.), August 3, 2009

Well, Kate Taylor is back in a BIG way with her latest studio offering, "Fair Time"!! The title of this mini review is uttered by Kate herself as an intro to the terrific new up-tempo song "Soap Opera Life" as she opens her first musical work composed entirely by Ms. Taylor with a lil' help on some tunes from a few gifted friends. Kate has really stretched her talent in this go-around which is not to say that you won't once again hear a fab pastiche of musical styles, from soft folk and country soundin' ballads, to honky tonk and rock, etc. all with tasty guitar work by Billy Derby and "right on" group backing (Sam Zucchini on drums, Dave Anderson on bass, Clifford Carter, piano, etc.)

There are many highlights to be found on this exceptional disc, but to name just a few personal favorites (not an easy task)... the touching and heartfelt "Red Tail" (composed for her late husband, Charlie Witham), a beautiful record that I simply cannot stop listening to ...the poetic ode to her talented brothers, "Sun Did Shine (On Carolina)", and the inspiring "Cholene" which proves once again that there are heroic angels among us right here on Earth.

So, "Step right up, Folks" (from the "Fair Time" track), Sister Kate is back and she is in a class of her own!!

P.S. The CD's innovative packaging and artwork are worth the price of the disc alone!!

5.0 out of 5 stars More than fair!, August 19, 2009

Kate Taylor manages to keep her own style while exploring a range of musical moods, from light and playful to tender and moving. Her band provides the ideal backdrop to her vocals, enhancing the singer's words while adding their own distinctive touch. Worth many listens!

5.0 out of 5 stars Music to your ears, September 4, 2009
This review is from: Fair Time! (Audio CD)
Today I had Kate's Fair Time playing as I was busy making my dinner. My husband came home from work and says who is that singing on the radio? I said its not the radio it is a CD. And he asks me well who is she? And I tell him. Kate...wonderful musician.....James's sister..and on and on I go. He says...I LOVE HER MUSIC. Can you get me that CD? Now it may not seem like a big deal but this man MAKES NO REFERENCE TO ANY MUSIC. I have known him 10 yrs and he listens to easy listening radio, has no real love of any one artist and then this comes up. I look tonight and he has befriended Kate Taylor on Facebook and wrote her a wonderful note on how much he enjoys her CD. I cannot believe it. Truly I am in shock. wonders never cease. Kate has a new fan.
I urge EVERYONE to purchase this CD. You will not be disappointed. In fact you will be enchanted.
Lina

I've had this hot, make that HOT, CD since it was released July 14, 2009.
It's October 27th of the same year and I have been listening to it nearly daily ever since.

First off..Kate Taylor fans of the Sister Kate days have this collection already and have probably
done some gift shopping with it....so you all know what I'm about to talk about.

For those who casually know KT's music or those who have never heard it (yes, sad reality--there are some Kate Taylor deprived
citizens on this planet!)---IF you like to rock or roll--country or contemplate-or maybe you like to swoon or dance--
This CD has something for you.

It is Kate Taylor's finest album to date, period
She wrote or co-wrote all of these songs... A first for her, but it better only be a beginning! (he says hopefully)

Though it may have a variety of tempos it is all glued together by a fierce band and Kate's soulful vocals...one band member, Billy Derby co-wrote a couple of the songs and he also rocks the sheet out of some of the songs.

If you're looking for an audio good time...and one that will last and make you come back for more. Check out Kate Taylor's cd Fair Time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another masterpiece, October 19, 2009

Kate Taylor has been one of my favorite singer/songwriters since the 1970's. "Fair Time!" is another masterpiece. This lady cannot hit a bad note if she tried (as I told her in a phone conversation a few weeks ago). "Red tail" is probably my favorite so far because I am a birder, but I'm sure that will change from one song to another over the next few weeks. While her self-titled record is still my favorite (her duet with James on "It's in His Kiss" and her version of "Stubborn Kind of Woman" turned my car around back to the mall to buy the lp), this one definitely needs major attention. The recording is excellent (and I am an audiophile), and her voice shows the perfection of any member of the Taylor clan. If you pass on this recording, you are missing some of the best music I have ever heard. It's the only thing that's been playing in my truck and in my office. My college students (ages 18-24) think my music is eclectic, but everyone comments on "Sister Kate's" voice and ask "Who is that woman???" I am always proud to say that the beautiful powerful voice comes from this beautiful lady who is still on a beautiful road and who has been so kind to me.
