Editorial Reviews

2006 reissue of their 1991 debut album, considered by many as a pure Melodic Hard Rock masterpiece. Produced by Rafe McKenna (Giant/Ten/Bad Company), the record reflects the creative environment of the band, which is similar to the late 80's USA Arena Rock sound. Founded from the ashes of Zeno (bassist Ule W. Ritgen played on the band's first two records) and V2 (the band in which singer Tommy Heart was involved before joining Zeno), The line-up was completed by guitar players Helge Engelke and Andy Malecek (ex S.A.D.O.) and drummer C.C. Behrens. Frontiers.

5.0 out of 5 stars wow, what a discovery March 10, 2007
Format:Audio CD
if you think the price tag is costly as what i thought prior to purchasing this, every doubt will be erased by the time you finish hearing the first track. the vocalist reminds me alot like mike vescera. the band plays 80's hard rock without the cheese. no fillers here. this german band will bring you on a great nostalgic trip. the track heat of emotion is something i have not heard of, from new bands of this genre who lack the passion and feeling. essential for hard rock and aor fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely amazing debut from Fair Warning December 3, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Fair Warning released their self titled debut album in 1992. Sadly for Fair Warning their brand of melodic rock was well on the downside of its popularity, and it was being replaced by the doom and gloom sounds of Seattle grunge.

I was quite hesitant upon purchasing this album. I have found more times than not when records get such rave reviews, they seldom live up to the hype. Never fear rockers, Fair Warning more than live up to the expectations I had for them with this record. These guys really should have become household names in the rock world during the early 90's, but unfortunately like so many other amazing artists from time, they were simply forgotten and shoved under the alternative rug. Every song on the disc is a potential hit, and my personal favorites are "One Step Closer," "Hang On," "Out On the Run," "The Call of the Heart" and "Longing For Love."

This record is a definitate pick up if you can find it. Frontiers records re-released it several years ago, but even that copy is tough to track down now.

This is the debut album by German mega-melodic hard rock band "Fair Warning" originally released in 1992. Released at a time when melodic rock was suffering from consequent drops in sales, this self titled debut album established "Fair Warning" as major force in 90s melodic rock with particular success in Europe and Japan.

The line up of Tommy Heart (v), Uwe Ritgen (b), Helge Engelke (g), Andy Malecek (g) and C.C. Behrens (d) seemingly came out of nowhere bringing such passionate performances and technical proficiency, taking the 80s melodic rock sound into a new level that very few bands would manage to reach.

Of course "Fair Warning" as a band originated from the mid-80s melodic rock/glam metal outfit "Zeno", led by guitarist Zeno Roth who featured Uwe Ritgen as a full time member and Tommy Heart singing on a number of tracks. Under the example set by Zeno, "Fair Warning" built their sound on robust drumming, thumping bass lines, flamboyant guitar leads and solos and the largest choruses courtesy of Tommy Heart.

Songs like "Out on the run", "Hang on" and "One step closer" have since become classics of the melodic rock/AOR genre definitely amongst the most identifiable tunes in "Fair Warnings" two-decade career; while the track list also features previously unreleased "Zeno" songs "Heat of emotion" and "Call of the heart".

"Fair Warning" is by any standards a classic of the melodic hard rock/AOR genre and an inescapable must for any fan of the genre, sounding just as fresh and intense as 20 years ago.
