5.0 out of 5 stars This is the classic Bards ...
that we all love from the Renn Faire or the occasional convention. Full of fun with some of the sweeter melodies such as "Wild Mountain Thyme" this is the Bards at their best. If you're like and fell in love with these guys at a Faire or con, then this is surely the CD for you.

1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING: Before you buy, READ THIS:
Who wrote those positive reviews? The 'bards' drunken friends?

Or am I on the wrong planet? Who could honestly like this 'music'? Where do I begin to warn unwary renaissance fans that haven't already lost some hard-earned ducats to these unfunny guys?

Don't let the quaint title and picture fool you as it did me; this is the kind of humor...

4.0 out of 5 stars Captures the spirit of their live show., May 19, 2004

The live show.

An audience in garb laughs and claps and sings along. Marc dances around as Andrew tries to maintain sanity. Sometimes.

It's the best thing about the Bards.

The Bards have recorded a tremendous library of old Ren Faire favorites, original songs, folk music, and the occasional Tom Lehrer tribute piece, and dominated the World Music charts on the old MP3.com.

A Faire to Remember captures the spirit of their live Ren Faire show; they recorded the songs the way they're performed, and even threw in "A Short Interlude" to keep the banter going. As I listened, I felt like they were with me in my living room, talking to me, while I laughed and clapped and sang along.

If you like the Bards' music and haven't heard them live, the free-form approach of A Faire to Remember is as close to being there as you can get. You owe it to your "elf" to get this CD.

Beloved faire songs, including The Mermaid, make this compilation a must-have for any faire goer...recommended, too, for faire newcomers who want a quick sampling of the music they will likely hear at any rensaissance faire...and, as always, delivered by the Brob Bards with skill, wit and panache!

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent collection of their best show songs, May 11, 2004
This review is from: A Faire To Remember (Audio CD)
This CD is a collection of some of the best known songs at Ren Faires and Celtic Fun Music, plus a couple of the Bard's crowd favorites. Their incredibly clever "Do Virgins Taste Better Medley" is what got me interested in the Bards when they were a pair of funny guys playing outside my classroom at the University of Texas. Then they have traditional songs like "Whiskey in the Jar" and "Wild Rover". "If I had a Million Ducats" is a really funny cover, and "A Fairy Story" - just great, definately not what you expected to happen. All in all, an excellent collection of the songs you want the Bards to sing.

The music is fabulous, and just what I was looking for. It's perfect for those festies going through withdrawl. It certainly gave me my mid-winter festival fix...
I loved hearing the Dragon's response on "Do Virgins Taste Better" as I had not heard that part previously. "If I had a Million Ducats" is a great parody, and the little comments just make the song "all pretty with the fringe on the top...".
"Fairy Story" was a new one for me, and I loved it, very funny!
A word of warning - Track 10 will get stuck in your head, listen to it with caution!

4.0 out of 5 stars Get this album, July 9, 2002
This review is from: A Faire To Remember (Audio CD)
If you like music of the type that you would have heard if you were born a celt a few years back or at a rennasaice festival now, this album is for you. The music is great, and the quality is excellent. This album is a must have for celtic music lovers. Even better, if you get the chance, see this group perform live--they bring a joy to life that reminds me of why music is important in our lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must for those with a Mouth for Melody, April 14, 2002
This review is from: A Faire To Remember (Audio CD)
The music on this album is so exquisit to it's core that to listen soothes the frayed nerves of a hard day. The acoustic guitar and fife played create the perfect atmosphere for relaxation. If you need a break, then take an aural ride with Brobdingnagian.

From the lovely John William Waterhouse painting on the cover, to the haunting melodies within, A FAIRE TO REMEMBER is a feast for the senses.

This CD captures the spirit of The Bards' live show, covering songs from the swooningly romantic (Wild Mountain Thyme, Greensleeves) to the infectious melodies of the comedy songs (Do Virgins Taste Better, If I Had a Million Ducats), and the traditional Celtic melodies (Wild Rover, Health to the Company).

Pour a glass of wine and sing along.
